Guest guest
Have had my Freedom upgrade a bit over 5 years now. Replaced controller a few times, the whole thing once. Used to replace due to the rubber plug but no longer use the accessory port. The rubber on the buttuns, I dont know why that should wear off, mine are fine. I would like the N5 but its way outa reach. Quote of the nanosecond... I'm in shape ... round's a shape isn't it? & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn E-mail- rclark0276@... Guest guest
One of the reasons that Cochlear came out with the with the N5 was increased durability. Metal buttons and metal door for the accessory port. The interal frame is made from tantalum metal including the twist connector for the battery instead of plastic. Time will tell for sure if my N5 will hold up longer than my backup Freedom processor. I also had the same issues that you had with the Freedom. > > How long has your freedom controller lasted? Guest guest
Hi , If you are able I would upgrade to the N5. It is definitely more durable than the Freedom. I was able to upgrade my Freedom to the N5 when I had my second ear implanted because my CI center gives a backup processor. The N5 is also more water resistant when using the rechargeable batteries. I really like the N5 much more than the Freedom. > > How long has your freedom controller lasted? Mine has been replaced a few times in the past 5 years.
