Date: Thu, 13 Jan 2011 00:35:20 +0000 Subject: cost of CI Okay, I just googled on the web and it looks like the cost of CI is up to $100,000. I am about to faint. What about Medicaid, should we get that poor, which is probably not a far fall from where we are now?
Guest guest
Yes, those numbers for the cost of the CI are darn scary! My surgery was over $100,000 but that included the implant, two processors (one for backup) and all the other stuff I needed to get going. Keep digging and maybe there is an organization that can help with the costs or talk to the hospital & surgeon and see if they can reduce the costs. We didn't think our insurance was going to cover and our hospital offered to work out a payment plan and it was about $20,000 less then the original figures. We were fortunate that we did eventually get our insurance to cover my surgery because even the " payment plan " offered was out of our reach. How sad, because my CI has improved the quality of my life 100% and I'm a much more productive citizen because of it. Guest guest
Medicaid could potentially help, it depends on your state. Here in CA, all new audiology services for adults were cut in 2009. Do check with your Medicaid office or implant center, they may have some local resources for you. @GLAD > > Okay, I just googled on the web and it looks like the cost of CI is up to $100,000. Guest guest
Glad you answer my question to Medicaid and what it providers for the cost. Could you send my information on it coverage for medical needs ., because I am a resident of Florida and think there are insurance benefits to what I may need. Thank you for your time ,. I look forward to hearing from you. Michele A D Esposito
Guest guest
To " hanginginthereok " who inquired about the cost of a CI and resources to pay for it - As someone else said, Medicaid covers this in some states. Vocational rehabilitation programs in some states also cover it. In addition there are charitable organizations that provide assistance to individuals who do not have resources. Please let us know what state you live in. Maybe we can help research this.
