Guest guest
Hi, All, I'm wondering the order of things when going for an upgrade. Would it be: 1 - Letter of necessity from audiologist 2 - Send the letter to your insurance company and wait for approval 3 - order upgrade A friend was told to oder the processor, THEN get the letter and send it to insurance/medicare. Seems to me this is a risky thing to do. What if the ins. doesn't approve it? Enlightenment, please. Thanks, Jackie )
Guest guest
I started with the University Hospital hearing rehab center and the audiologists there handled everything including the insurance approval. I felt very comfortable with these folks; they presented the two CI types (type 3 has been withdrawn from the market) and discussed the benefits of each without bias. So I agree with you in starting with the audiologist who has to confirm less than 60% comprehension for medical insurance and less than 40% for medicare coverage. Guest guest
Hello: I'm eligible for Medicare benefits therefore, my CI Freedom received 3 years ago was approved and paid for by Medicare. I understand that Medicare will not approve and pay for the upgrade until you have the original CI for 5 years. Anyone know any difference? Thanks, Bill From: Harold Libka <halibka@...> Subject: Re: Obtaining medical necessity letter Date: Sunday, April 3, 2011, 10:41 AM  I started with the University Hospital hearing rehab center and the audiologists there handled everything including the insurance approval. Guest guest
I'm sorry but they are simply keeping you away from the competition by offering to handle everything. I don't think that is the right thing to do. ________________________________ From: <wdywms@...> Sent: Sun, April 3, 2011 1:32:09 PM Subject: Re: Obtaining medical necessity letter  I was told: 1-order from Cochlear 2-they will send letter of necessity to audi 3-they will contact Medicare & supplemental
Guest guest
That makes no sense. Once we are implanted, most of us dont go to the competition for further services. And why shouldnt a company offer to handle everything? Quote of the nanosecond...
