Guest guest
I just received the Nucleus 5 external processor on Friday and am trying to get used to it. Everything has this high-pitched nasal quality; I don't think that I would understand the TV without CC but can follow the voice as I read. Any advice for a newbie? I wore hearing aids for 52 years and recently became totally deafened; I was diagnosed with Mondini dysplasia and vestibular malformations. Guest guest
Hi Harry, Hi pitched sounds are not unusual after the first mappings. It will`` take several mappings until sounds are normal. And the thing to do is practice, practice, practice. Having captioning on while you are listening is a good way to learn. And you should have received the sound and beyond program, so practice with that. You can get unabridged books from the library and listen while you read along, or sonian magazine offers their magazine on tape for subscribers. Subscriptions are $12 a year, and the audio tapes are FREE as long as you subscribe. Good luck, and welcome back to the world of hearing.
