Hearing With My Bionic Ears 11years With Left and 5years With Right

What an amazing hearing journey thus far with many ups and downs and fun and

laughter.

My left ear was implanted May 8th 2000 - they asked me which ear to be done as I

am totally deaf in both ears - I said lets do my left ear as my 'plumbing' is

just behind my right ear and I don't want my surgeon to be 'splashed' :-) - this

time I still lived in my quiet silent world until activation on May 25th.

Careful study of my brain and VP shunt scans guided my surgeon to implant my

right ear 6 years later on May 8th - but I was hearing at that time with my left

Cochlear Implant - amazing when I woke up from surgery - I could hear - my left

ear Speech Processor was on. Activation was May 22nd.

Although my silent world will be part of my life forever and there will always

be the times when I experience it, my Cochlear Implants breaks my silent world

in my waking hours.
