People who have or had HCV and want to become

organ donors can and it is marked on your organ donor card and info as a

selected or directed organ donor for only HCV+ people.

A person can even indicate - I am donating my liver

only for another HCV+ person or persons. This way a person with HCV

is considered a candidate as a liver donor only and would not have been

considered a donor candidate if not.

It has saved many lives and the additional need

for HCV+ organ donors if growing by the day.

I made my own donor card, the Diabetic one I got from the Canadian Diabetes Assoc. - they give them out so if you're having a low blood sugar reaction - it can make you look drunk before the coma & death - the cops will take you to the hospital or at least call the paramedics. I think it best to carry a card with my HCV status - even home made - so if I can't speak the people at the hospital will know to take precautions around my blood. I haven't had the time or energy to post to any other groups in a very long time except for ours here. I don't mind please forward any of my posted articles around to other groups. Thanks. The doctor should have been able to tell you about the concusion cause it depends on how bad it is.After the second accident I had to live with the pain cause of the liver.I lay down when I need to rest to ease the pain, that is the best way to handle the pain. The weather effects it the most. After three years your body can tell when it is going to rain.Really.This is your first one hon and physio therephy should take care of it.

Gail, that is awful, you poor girl, at least now I know a little of what to expect..Do you still have aches after you have been working too hard? How do you ease your pain Gail? Im very concern what this might have done to my head bone...lol, how long should a concussion head ache last?..Hugs, Pat

Carmell, Shellie and I recently had a discussion on this. Funny, how great minds think alike...LOL! Are you around today? I would like to talk about this more. Carmell, Shellie and I, thought it would be beneficial to write up a parent handbook on the VEPTR and its hybrid.....Would you be willing to add your invaluable 2 cents?

talk soon,

HRH

Re: Re: Jessie update

Jackie,

I totally agree with Carmell's "ranting" (lol)

has a VEPTR too, and it is not as easy as someone may think to have a child with it. Even someone like my who (so far) bounces back from these surgeries very well.

You have to watch out for the way you pick the child up, how they are carried, skin breakdown (as Carmell mentioned), bruising and pain from every day pressure on the back at the location of the instrumentation. Not to mention the surgeries every 4-6 months.

If Jessie's mom had so much trouble getting him in for an MRI, how will she do with having to take him to the hospital for a potential overnight stay every 6 months? Not to mention the stay of 10-14 days (and nights) after the initial implantation. Will she be able to change the dressings when needed after the surgery? there is a lot to consider - does Jessie have a Social Worker? Can you send info to his pediatrician?

You know.. at first I thought cute.. now let's find something better. But talk about an advertising blitz! When people ask I would tell them about the llamas and birds for sale. Lol... if I can't get their money one way, I'll try another! I am seriously considering it, or something along that line.

Boo... did you move? Glad for school?

Haven't moved, just sitting here directing contractors.. Appeal went in last week and go to the broad on the 21st. Paster dust is every where, very evasive. I picked up a dish cloth 3 times yesterday, never thinking about lead poisoning. I use that cloth to wipe down food prep areas in the kitchen. Jessie has high lead levels from his mommy's house already. Shudder had to check the land lord on the traffic though my kitchen. No more though traffic, only emergency traffic etc... But very glad for school, am going to see this after noon about getting Jessie in 3 yr old head start..Kathy

I started having problems with palpitations and a rapid heartbeat several months ago and after seeing my Cardiologist he recommended that I consider having a defibrillator put in to prevent a sudden death episode. After introducing several new meds (Water Pill,
