Guest guest
HI Cheryl: Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your pet dog. It sounds like he was really suffering and now has found some release. Since OCDers generally have big issues with death I think we need to view these situations as opportunities for therapy. I was raised in a family where everyone died off stage of " old age " and never went to a funeral till I was 32 years old. Death is a big issue for Steve and recently his therapy cat was killed and unfortunately he found her stiff, dead, cold body lying in a ditch outside our neighbors home across the street. All of us were devastated as she was such a wonderful companion and very young - only 16 months old. She was handpicked by one of Steve's teachers to be his " therapy " cat and comforted him through much pain and anxiety in his early days of OCD treatment. Steve was more than upset by her death. He cried and howled and screamed until I thought the neighbors would call CPS. I just held onto him for hours until he finally fell asleep exhausted. Somehow grieving about his cat allowed Steve to release a lot of grief about having OCD and other sad things too. It was very hard to be so near so much noisy and unrelenting grief, but it paid off. Also we let Steve decide what rituals he wanted to observe. He decided he wanted her to be cremated and we have a beautiful wooden box for her ashes and her photo stuck to the top. Her name and age are also engraved on the box. It is given pride of place in our living room. His CBT therapist bought him a lovely pewter cat-shaped frame and he put a beautiful photo of her in it and it rests next to the box with her ashes. I think grieving rituals are very helpful in these situations. Sweeping things under the rug IMO does not work so well. Just my 2c worth. Congratulations to for how well she is doing. She deserves to enjoy life, her friends and family and it is wonderful to hear how well things are going for you Cheryl. What a relief that you don't have Lyme Disease, I hope you are feeling in much better health. Take care, aloha, Kathy (Ha) kathyh@... At 01:40 PM 9/7/99 -0400, you wrote: >From: " Glenn C. Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, I'm glad that you are negative for Lyme Disease. Hope your symptoms disappear. Sorry to read about your dog. When our pets die, we have funerals. Some of the most beautiful eulogies I have ever heard have been delivered by my sons at our services for our pets. Take care. Guest guest
I have not had the time to even look at my mail lately! It was great to see that is doing so well at school and has made a new connection. That is so important. I think that the sleep overs are a biggie! Everything in it's own time right .........one step forward... So glad that she is enjoying too. (i wish I could say the same thing here!..we still have contamination/loathing going on) My feelings go out to you and your family over the loss of your dog. I know that must be hard for everyone. It is always so hard to say good bye to our wonderful companions. Death is such a hard thing to accept, but it is such a part of everyday living. I hope you can have a good-bye memorial for this wonderful animal that was such a part of your life. Sometimes it is so hard to grieve but so necessary! You seemed to be asking if you did the right thing. What is done is done and remember that we are all doing the best that we can.......right?.........don't second guess yourself!........you can't change it. Just allow your family the time and memory to help in the healing. My daughter was given an assignment. It was to write about all the negative things that have happend in her life. (they had done the positive the day before.) She said that she had 19 things. All of them were animals that we had had as pets or farm animals that were raised for meat, that had died. We have always been open about death. I leave it up to each individual in our family how they want to play their part in a creatures death. Each one is different. Anyway that is my two cents worth. Guest guest
Hey guys!! I had a phone call from the health dept and i wanted to share it with you guys. I am a little nervous that they called me. We have been on WIC since i found out that i was pregnant with twins. Once the girls were born, we decided not to vaccinate. One of the best decisions we ever ever made!!! Anyway, WIC sent me two letters about them being up to date with their vaccines. I called and told them that we decided not to vaccinate and could we still get WIC. They told me yes, but i would have to go in every month and pick it up personally. Well, the hell with that! Anyway, we decided we didnt really need it and it just wasnt worth the trouble. I didnt call and tell them, i just figured we wouldnt get it anymore. Anyway, yesterday, i got a call from the health dept. about one of my daughters record. She asked me if her shots were current. I panicked!! After reading letters from people who have been threatened by our DEMOCRATIC)LOL) gov,. i said that we had decided to wait to vaccinate until they were older. Once i hung up and had a chance to think about it, i though, what the hell business is it of theirs? I should have just hung up. Then i started worring. Help!! Do you think i should start worring? Also, any info on exemption laws in SC. I dont regret our decision to not vaccinate, i really feel that they are unsafe. Also it is not providential. I trust that for these diseases, God has designed our immune system to fight them off. We dont need the assistance of vaccines.

So, about 30 minutes later, they had it ready, before I paid, I checked it, told the cashier (at the pharmacy) that I am allergic to gelatin, had told the pharmacist about it and still got the version I was allergic to, she handed it back to them, told them about it and came back and told me that they were " discussing it " . 30 minutes later, the pharmacist handed me the bag to check and I told him that the chewables that were in it were fine. This was all because I am so hyper-allergic to beef/pork/horse that I cannot have gelatin. I hope things get back on track here from what seems to have been going on. Guest guest
Quick stuff: Grilled chicken breasts, chopped up in a salad, or rolled in a tortilla with salad stuff and a bit of mustard. Cottage cheese with fruit. Tuna packets and an apple. Go to www.leanandstrong.com and go to the healthy recipes section. There are a TON of muffins to make that work out to be balanced meals. Guest guest
I don't know about that. Fresh veggies are better than frozen, and frozen is better than canned any day. But as far as frozen chicken breasts? Geez, I buy several pounds and freeze them all the time. Of course, I then thaw and cook them. So, I suppose eating a frozen chicken breast might be a little crunchy and undercooked, so yes, unfrozen and cooked is better than frozen. Guest guest
In the stores around here you can buy fresh by the big packs, I usually will buy those and freeze them. But we also have bags of already frozen breasts, so just wondering if those are still as good as frozen. What do you think? - In , " Su " <hobbitgirl@m...> wrote: > I don't know about that. Guest guest
Illyana, welcome to this board. Your story will be familiar to many on this board. So many went years trying to get diagnosed. I was lucky in that regard. It took me about 8 -10 months and most of that time was spent in getting appointments set up and ruling out heart condition, etc. My first symptoms were the spasms and due to my age and family history, my doctor wanted to rule that out right away. By the time I was diagnosed I couldn't keep down food or water. We're glad you found us and you'll find a lot of information here. I'm glad you're doing well right now. Guest guest
Illyana, your story sounds so much like my 11yo daughter. She's been to doctor after doctor, every specialist you can imagine. Trying to find out what is causing this. She had a horrible night-time cough, along with vomitting after meals, chest pain after eating, and lots of other things. We had a doctor try 5 or 6 different things for the cough and then throw his hands up in the hair and say maybe it's a habit cough. Well, she was sleeping many times when she coughed and she would bring up food! Didn't sound like a habit cough to me. Finally, we went to a GI on our own and mystery solved. She just had a heller and is doing great. Our little girl is a completely different person. We've had two episodes of what we think might be either heartburn or possibly spasms. Other than that, it's been great. I'm happy you were able to get a proper diagnosis and get help. Missy, (11, achalasia) Illyana wrote: > Who knew there'd be a e-group for Achalasia?! Guest guest
I just wanted to say hello. I could not believe there was an " a " group either. However I have found a lot of information and feel like I have a lot of support and resources here. I am having a helllers and wrap on September 8, the dilatations did nothing for me. My doctors had also misdiagnosed me for a few years, they said I had gerd, and the chest pains were anxiety. Hope you stay well and welcome to the group. Guest guest
Welcome Illyana, Sorry you have found a need to be part of this group, but so glad that you found us. The support that you will find is quite unbelievable. Your story is really a nightmare. I can only imagine how your parents must feel that they did not believe you. As a 58 year old mother/grandmother and guilt comes with the territory. I know how I would feel. They were not being unreasonable, but we all look back with regret. It woulds like you are doing very well, and I am really happy about that. It is great to hear such a positive on a dialation! Hope you stay active in the group. I've never been tempted to buy it, much less use it. I've found this with all of the culinary herb oils. I love to smell the fresh and dried herbs when cooking, or just for the heck of it, however. --------------------------------- Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Hi Ruth I've not played with rosemary abs yet, and had no idea it was so true to the plant. Sounds wonderful. I used her pink peppercorn as a top note in my Riverside perfume, and it is very intense, round and true to the berries I used to pick off the tree in my backyard in Riverside, CA.
