Guest guest
Do any of you CIers do dictation via a transcriber, such as medical transcribing, legal or other?? My daughter, who also has a CI (AB) is seeking solutions for the best method of such...will be trying direct connect for the 1st time, hopefully later in the week. She said she needs to be able to answer phones, hear environmental sounds, AND transcribe, all once. She is not bilateral but I'm thinking this would be a good option for her in the future! I'm on digest so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please send me a carbon copy at shari-r@... Thanks, Shari
Guest guest
Hi Shari, I hear with an ABC auria but when I'm going to be on the phone, I use an older, body-worn processor as I am able to run a line from the phone directly into the processor. I have 3 settings on the body-worn and one of them gives me sound both from the headpiece and the auxiliary input (which is where the line that connects from the phone comes in). So...one can hear both environmental sounds and have a clear connection to the phone. Also, with this set-up, you don't need to be holding the receiver up in order to hear; you can just lay it down on the desk or whatever and hear fine. I mention the body-worn just because it's what I'm in the habit of doing...I'm quite sure a similar hook-up can be achieved with a BTE. Finally, the way the line hooks up from the phone to the auxiliary jack is via a small box which plugs in between the handset and the base of the phone. The box I have is made by a man named Mendoza who makes various ancillary items for the hearing impaired. I imagine some other companies must also do the same thing. Good luck with it and post if you need more info. Win > > Do any of you CIers do dictation via a transcriber, such as medical transcribing, legal or other??
