and her brother both received CIs in September, 2002 - her

brother CJ in July, 2004. Not aware of any sister.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. Maybe my memory is off--I recalled The Sound and The

Fury as being about and her sister and the family was kind of divided

because one sister got the implant and one did not and moved (at least as of the

end of the movie at that time) to a deaf community that I believe was in

land. Anyway, thanks for the update.

's father and her uncle were both deciding on implants for their

children. 's father is deaf and his brother (her uncle) is hearing. The

uncle and aunt decided on an implant for their son. 's parents decided

not to get one for (her mother was considering one for herself too).

The controversy caused a rift in the family, and, yes, 's parents moved

the family away to a Deaf community. There is a shorter follow-up film called

Sound & Fury Six Years Later in which viewers learn that both and her

mother ended up getting cochlear implants, and the family moved back closer to
