Guest guest
(Tongue in cheek) Have any of you noticed that as the cost of your HA's went up so did the size of the boxes and packaging it came in? My first HA 15-20 years ago was a digital Resound. It came in a soft pouch. As time passed I changed technology every few years. Each time the price went up and the size of the box got bigger. More do-dads. More paper. More containers. My last HA was when I went bilateral. The Rolls Royce of Siemens. The remote was $1000! There was so much stuff that it came with a nice canvas carry bag. I'm still not sure what some of it was for. I don't know about Cochlear or AB, but I'll bet Med-el has them beat! The master box is the size of a small suitcase, handle and all, although not on wheels yet! Inside is a spiffy brushed aluminum attaché case with keyed locks. The electric dryer is in a separate box altogether! The packaging issues alone must occupy an entire department of people. I wonder what their packaging R & D budget is? So, here is my small contribution to cost reduction of CI's. Put it all in a plain SMALL cardboard box. The only part we use is on and in our heads. I'll bet it would save $1000/kit. Now I need to find a place to store all this stuff. It is way to pretty to throw out.
Guest guest
Ha ha..marketing at it's finest. I have a feeling Cochlear and AB are the same as Medel based on their glossy marketing literature! ________________________________ From: Lawrence <lawrencerlevin@...> Sent: Thu, February 17, 2011 6:19:44 PM Subject: Reducing the cost of a CI (Tongue in cheek) Have any of you noticed that as the cost of your HA's went up so did the size of the boxes and packaging it came in?
