I do use the extended warranty for my Freedom - $82/mo. It’s nice as I tend

to have to have the processor replaced once or twice a year. I just call, say

I’m having issues and here’s my audi’s number, and they will get a new one

programmed and mailed right to me. No fuss, no hassle. My insurance will not

cover the replacements.

Hi, I have a question about the warranty.

My freedom warranty is about to expire. Cochlear sent me forms to extend the

service coverage which is very expensive ($625 for one system/year, $109 5 for 2

system/year).

Does any of you buy this extended service plan from Cochlear? How do you like

it? Does your health insurance cover for the replace/repair ( I have employer

provided HMO)?

Thanks.

You replace your processor once or twice a year?  I've had mine for about 3

years, and they seem to work pretty good.  I never have any problem with my

processors .  That's one of the reason I posted the warranty question.  I

wonder what's the probability of processor break down during its lifetime.

That would depend on your usage patterns somewhat. I run marathons, I

sweat a lot, I play hard, I walk in the rain without an umbrella, etc, so

I'm expecting my processors will have a shorter lifespan than those of

people who don't treat them like I do. :-)

When they send you new ones, do you have to send the old ones back?

Wen,

I live near Houston, which is a sauna. I also raise/compete horses, so I’m

outdoors sweating buckets. My first Freedom lasted 2+ years, but it seems every

one since isn’t as sturdy.

Is the payment for this extended warranty tax deductible?

I've had to send mine back a couple times in the past 3 years. I do a lot of

sports and outdoor activities so I guess sweat and moisture is a factor. I had

same problem with my 3G Esprit also needing to be replaced several times.
