Guest guest
NVRC News - June 30, 2011 ------------ HLAA Convention Exhibits #10 -- ClearSounds, Oticon, QuickCaption By Marla Dougherty 6/30/11 ClearSounds Communications, Inc. At the ClearSounds booth I spoke with Maher about their latest amplified phones like the A600 with digital answering machine that allows you to listen to messages through the handset earpiece or through the speakerphone. As a consumer using a ClearSounds product, I was interested to learn more about their product line and discovered more about the Bluetooth products they now have available. The Bluetooth amplified neckloop accessory can be used with the cell phone, TV and MP3 player. The loop receiver requires T-coils or there use of a headset jack to accommodate non-T-coil users. The QLink Bluetooth Stereo Transmitter is a Bluetooth adapter which can link to an assortment of devices using their neckloop/headset system. http://www.clearsounds.com <http://www.clearsounds.com/> _____ Oticon Oticon was back this year introducing their new small hearing aid, the Oticon Chili, which came out in March. The Chili BTE is very slim and discreet. It was developed for people with severe to profound hearing loss. It offers an instant mute control as well as volume adjustment and program selection. When used with the Oticon ConnectLine Streamer, you can wirelessly connect to the TV, telephone, cell phone, computer and stereo. The ConnectLine Microphone really caught my attention. The small microphone is worn by the person you are talking with so their voice is transmitted wirelessly to the Streamer and then to your hearing aids. It can transmit up to 15 yards away and works well in noisy surroundings.like a restaurant! http://www.oticonusa.com/ _____ QuickCaption The friendly people at QuickCaption were pleased to share information about all the captioning services they have been providing for 12 years. They have 103 contractors that provide captioning nationwide and offer CART, remote CART, video/DVD captioning and streaming media captioning. Last November I experienced remote CART at the HLAA Walk4Hearing in Washington DC. s with a smart phone or iPad could enjoy the streaming of live CART if they were too far away to see the remote CART. By going to the QuickCaption homepage and clicking on the HLAA event, they had instant streaming of the speeches. QuickCaption makes it easy for you to get a copy of the event transcript. On their website you can copy and paste the transcript once the program is over. The information remains " live " on the website for about 15 minutes. After that, it is archived and the text can be mailed to you. http://www.quickcaption.com/ _____ C Copyright 2011 by Northern Virginia Resource Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons (NVRC), 3951 Pender Drive, Suite 130, Fairfax, VA 22030; <blocked::blocked::blocked::blocked::blocked::http://www.nvrc.org/> www.nvrc.org; 703-352-9055 V, 703-352-9056 TTY, 703-352-9058 Fax.
