Guest guest
HI Everyone I know several people here have tinnitus. Its been driving me absolutely crazy the last few days and I'm at my wits end in trying to cope with it. I was up till 1am and I had to be up at 5:15am for work... I can't take sleeping pills, cuz unfortunately they have the opposite effect on me and keep me WIDE AWAKE. (Bummmer for me) I've tried many over the counter, herbal and nature stuff, nothing works... Normally it gets really bad when there is rain in forecast or big change in air pressure or even worse the " S " stuff.. STRESS.... but ... none of those so far are triggering it.. or maybe Sinus/Allergies ?? Anyhow.... I need to find what any of you found works for you that I could try. Since my hearing is so bad, I cant listen to music (it actually makes it worse and gives me a headache) The other ear is my CI ear.. usually it lessens it when I have it on, but not the last few days... HELP !! I need my beauty sleep !! LoL . Guest guest
Joleen, If you do find something that helps with the tinnitus, PLEASE let me in on it! I know what you mean about it driving you crazy. I have been dealing with it every day since September 2007. Vickie In a message dated 4/18/2008 3:35:28 P.M. Guest guest
I would love to know if anyone has found anything as well. When I go to bed at night, it sounds like my neighbor is using a chainsaw. It does get annoying, maybe that's why I'm thinking I have insomnia. Nina Re: VENTTING !! Guest guest
Hi- To me, tinnitus is a tricky thing as what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. I've heard that for some people they need to make sure that they don't have a lot of caffeine in their diet. I have also heard that there are tinnitus maskers(which look like a hearing aid) available, which basically help substitute a more pleasant sound for the annoying one. I have tinnitus but am fortunate in that when I put on my speech processor, it gets masked. Prior to my ci years ago, I had tinnitus bad constantly. When I'm not wearing my speech processor(such as while bathing or sleeping), the tinnitus can be annoying at times. For me, changes in the weather, female hormone fluctuations, and stress seem to be my main triggers. It also was exceptionally bothersome when I had my ci surgery but with healing, that improved. The only thing that has ever helped me ease the tinnitus is to practice deep breathing and to breathe lavender oil or flowers-both of which eases my stress, and relaxes me, which helps me cope with the tinnitus. I also know that the tinnitus can be tricky when I go into a mapping session as if I'm having a tinnitus day, it seems to act up while I'm going through the " c " and " t " levels while being programmed/mapped. Unfortunately, then, I can't practice deep breathing and pay attention in the mapping process. I just do the best I can and try to not pay attention to the tinnitus sounds. I hope some other ci users can help you more with your tinnitus problem! with cochlear implant joy, Margo Klug ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
