Guest guest
I would take issue with that statement... many who have not recived or got a CI at a later age have done just as well or better as those who got a CI early often due to the fact that they had ACCESSIBLE LANGUAGE early in life in the form of Sign Language. there are just too many variables to justify you statment as degrees of success in acquiring oral language depend on way to many other issues not just the CI. This is one of those Myths that the Medical community and CI advocates perpetuate.... > > There is a belief in deaf circles that parents should not implant their > children, and they can make a choice to do so when they are adults, even > with the explanation that the implant is crucial for the critical period of > learning oral language. > >
