Guest guest
COAT - August 16, 2011 http://www.coataccess.org ------------------------- American Council of Blind and Google Conduct Joint Survey on Computer Accessibility Barriers August 16, 2011. COAT leading affiliate American Council of the Blind (AFB <http://www.acb.org> ) and Google <http://www.google.com/accessibility/> are conducting a survey <http://www.acb.org/googlesurvey> to understand computer and assistive technology usage in the blind community ACB is working with Google on this because studies have evaluated how users generally access the Internet, but none have focused specifically on the experience of blind users. ACB helped Google develop the survey tool which looks at how blind users choose and adopt assistive technologies and how they discover new tools and information. The main aim of the study is to develop effective new ways of accessing information in the cloud. Respondents can complete the survey -- which runs through to mid-September and takes about 20 minutes -- either by telephone or online. Specifically, the initiative hopes to uncover how blind users interact with the web, which assistive technologies they find most useful, and how they make decisions about whether to switch or upgrade tools. Google will award seven Amazon.com gift certificates to participants who take part in a random drawing. The first is for $50 and the other six for $25.
