Guest guest
Anyone on here have gotten Medicare coverage for their CIs? My CI audie in Denver just informed me that Medicaid (Wyoming's) will not cover CIs for adults anymore, not even the 20% that Medicare doesn't cover. My Medicare coverage officially starts up Nov. 1 (and I'll still have Medicaid as well). From what my audie said in her email, she didn't think it'd be a good idea for me to proceed cause the 20% would still be costly. But 2 other folks online who have CIs told me that Medicare will not cover the full $100,000 total that the center estimates, but that instead Medicare has their own system of what they'll cover that they've worked out with the hospital/center. From my understanding, if Medicare covers 80% of about $28,000+ (of what they'll allow for CI coverage), then I could definitely manage the 20% left. I think my audie even said she didn't really know much about how Medicare works a while back. Anyway, yeah, just wanted to get feedback from you guys if possible, and I'll keep contacting my audie for more info. She emailed Advanced Bionic's insurance reimbursement department for confirmation of Medicaid's change in coverage (and I myself sent an inquiry to Medicaid as well). I really want to get my left ear implanted. I do see the audie when she comes into town on Wednesday for a hearing test, see if I am within the 40% or worse HINT scores to meet Medicare's criteria. Hopefully we'll have more info by then, I refuse to give up or let this throw me off track. Meghan
