Guest guest
Hi Judy, I hope it's okay to advertise our company on CI Hear. I've been a member of CI Hear for a long time since before I got my CI in 2005. I used to be on here a lot, but lately I've been more of a lurker. My wife and I started our company last month and our hopes are that we can provide high quality products at low prices to the hard of hearing, including CI users, and people with low vision. I hadn't planned on advertising on CI Hear, but when I logged on yesterday, I saw that other people were advertising on here. So, I felt it only fair that we advertise too and give people another place to check out. I am part of this community and this group helped me so much when I was considering getting a CI, that now that I've started an online store, I only wanted to give back. Thanks and Hugs, Stan CI implant right ear at OHSU 2/24/2005 Nucleus Freedom 2009 Hearing aid left ear > > I see a company has placed an advertisement in our files. Guest guest
Hi Stan, I don't have anything to say about it. Alice, our moderator is the one who should approve it and if she thinks it's okay, that's fine. I guess there is other advertising on here, but they seem to be more like resources with choices rather than outright selling. Since I'm a moderator for other groups which don't permit selling, I notice things like this. However, I go with the flow. Judy > > > > I see a company has placed an advertisement in our files. Guest guest
Hi Judy, Thanks for your comments! I agree with you completely about Alice making any decisions about whether our link should stay or not. I'd like to think of our store as more than just another place to buy things. My plans are to continue adding things, like one of the feature articles, in which I talk about my CI. My hope is that our store will be a place for anyone to feel welcome and maybe learn a little about CI's and hearing loss. In fact, if Alice would allow it, I'd like to put a link to on our site. Like I said, this site and the wonderful people on here helped me tremendously when I was comtemplating getting my CI. (I'm not sure I could have done it without you! A few members went out of their way to help me decide whether to get my so called good ear or my totally deaf ear implanted!) Guest guest
I need to comment on this. is correct. Advertising is not allowed in the group messages, in the list files or in the list links. I'm sorry that this might be offensive but if you give it thought, you will understand why that rule is necessary. Thank you Judy for pointing it out as I don't catch them all and thank you for your message and removing the ad that was posted. For the group - a special thanks for your understanding. Guest guest
Hi Alice, , and Judy, Removing my site from the links is not offensive to me at all and I fully understand why you don't want it full of ads. When I saw the links listed, I didn't realise that they were only resource links. I clicked on a couple and saw advertisements for products and assumed it was okay to add my site. I only wanted to give back to the group for all the help the group gave me when I was thinking about getting a CI. Please accept my apology. Sincerely, Stan P.S. My CI, which was implanted on 24 February 2005, is still doing great. I'm no longer lost in a hearing world. (Just lost. LOL) Alice, thank you for creating . In my honest opinion, I believe that it is the best site for impartial information on CI's and a great site for CI users. P.S.S. , I still would like to have a cup of mocha with you some day! > > I need to comment on this. is correct. Guest guest
Stan, Good to hear from you. You could create a small sig and put your link in there. Many people do it but some put a novel in the sig. Usually several lines of all their online contacts...Skype, Facebook, Twitter etc. Way too much. I still live in bewport so give me a holler. I love mochas and its the time of year for them! Quote of the nanosecond... " As I get older I notice the years less and the seasons more. Guest guest
Stan, There is no need for apology. I totally understand what happened. I'm very glad to read that you are still doing well with your CI. I know how much it changes your life. Many thanks for the complements. I'm glad the list can reach out to those who need it. Guest guest
Hi , Glad to hear from you also. I'm surprised you still like Mocha's! LOL Thanks for the suggestions. If I'm ever down that way (Newport), I'll definitely give you a shout and hopefully buy you a long awaited mocha. Unfortunately, I haven't been to Newport in several years. Maybe, I'll have to add it and mocha to the 2012 calendar. Oh wait, you said it's the time of year for them! (Oh, oh, I'd better add it to this year's calendar! <smile>) Stan > > > > I need to comment on this. is correct.
