Guest guest Posted May 26, 2011 Report Share Posted May 26, 2011 Research opportunity for parents of children with cochlear implants, entering mainstream kindergarten or first grade KDH Research and Communication (KDHRC), a research firm in Atlanta, Georgia, has funding from the National Institutes of Health to develop and evaluate materials to help children with cochlear implants succeed in mainstream classrooms. ~~~~ We seek parents and teachers of children with cochlear implants, ages 4 to 6, who will enter a mainstream kindergarten or first grade classroom for the first time in fall 2011. ~~~~ Parents will be asked to use the Cochlear Implant School Toolkit Parents' Guide during the mainstreaming process and participate in telephone interviews about the usefulness of The Toolkit at three points in time. ~~~~ Interested parents will be asked to inform their child's future teacher of the study and refer him or her to KDHRC for enrollment. Parents are not eligible to participate unless their child's teacher also enrolls in the study. However, both parties do not need to stay enrolled to continue with the study. Either party my leave the study at any time without affecting the participation of the other party. ~~~~ Each of the three interviews will last no more than 90 minutes. Each parent will be paid $75 per interview.
