Guest guest
Hi All, I am now 92 hours into activation of my CI. Nothing world shattering. I am starting to notice and recognize more and more sounds. I am also starting to be able to filter some sounds. Haven't been able to do that for many years. I have been wearing the CI exclusively for the past two days. I feel that is forcing me to rely on the CI for everything. The Hearing Aid (HA) was helping me with directionality. However, sounds seemed to flip flop between CI and HA and was very confusing. Amazing or amusing, whichever way you want to look upon it. I heard a tic, tic, tic sound at my sister-in-laws home. I finally realized I was hearing the dog's nails clicking on the hardwood floor. All the hearing people had to stop and listen closely for the sound. Yes, they heard it when they focused on that particular sound. Due to filtering on their part, the sound was not noticeable. Once I got over the novelty of the sound, I, too, started ignoring that sound. Sounds are still strange but I am slowly starting to distinguish subtle differences in people's voices and associate the voice to an individual. So far I am very pleased with the decision to get a CI. Looking forward to getting more channels and more then the basic programming.
