Guest guest
Everyones experience is difference. If you are concerned you should speak with your doctor. I know in my case I was able to walk around fine but I got so worn out so fast even two weeks after surgery. I had balance issues for several months after activation. I never actually fell down but I often felt like I was on a boat that was rocking slightly. Guest guest
Don't stress....I literally had to hold the walls for two weeks when I had my first surgery...it didn't go completely away until after my activation about one month post op. Everyone's different, but I'd say you're well within the range of normal On Wed, May 7, 2008 at 1:07 PM, D Vacks <vacklist77@...> wrote: > Everyones experience is difference. Guest guest
Hi Dan, Everyone is different. I think I was back to exercising 2 weeks after my surgery but I wasn't at my 100%. It didn't take long. I had to be careful with a few things because I would get dizzy (doing situps on an exercise ball or the standing oblique exercise which is a twisting motion- the quick up/down motions made me dizzy). My first week, I had a lot of dizziness and nausea but I think I had a stomach virus going on as well because not long after that my son and hubby had the same thing with the nausea. My hubby took the week off after I had the surgery so he could help take care of our little ones and drive us around if needed. I definitely didn't feel comfortable driving for a week or two. My ear was tender for a while and was swollen for a few weeks. I just rubbed it gently with a clean finger whenever I was in the shower. Hang in there. It gets easier each day and it is so worth it! Do you have your activation date yet? From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of hhissues Sent: Wednesday, May 07, 2008 1:54 PM Subject: 1st week Hi, I had my surgery last Friday on May 2nd. It's 5 days later now. I'm still not 100 %. My balance is still a little off. I still get a little dizzy at times. I'm still not walking 100 %. I hadn't gotten all of my strength back yet. My implanted ear still sticks out. Am I expecting to recover too much too soon or what ? What was your 1st week like ? I also currently have a bad case of congestion. Thus that could play a factor ? Thanks ! Dan
Guest guest
Dan, I don't remember congestion issues, but that could vary from person to person. It took me just over a week to be able to drive. And then I only drove a couple miles to the store and back. During that week, I did feel dizzy and nauseous and did very little walking because of it. My implanted ear stuck out, but it's back to normal now!! You sound pretty normal to me. Good luck and happy hearing! Nina 1st week > Hi, > > I had my surgery last Friday on May 2nd. Guest guest
Dan, I had all your symptoms, except the congestion, for a few weeks. Just let nature run its course.
Guest guest
Hi Dan, With my first CI implantation I experienced all the same symptoms that you mentioned and the dizziness and lack of balance did not go away until activation, when it suddenly disappeared. With my second surgery on the other ear, the recovery was much faster and I had no dizziness or balance problems. Why? Who knows! The ear sticking out may be due to surgical swelling which should go down over the next few weeks. > > Hi, > > I had my surgery last Friday on May 2nd. It's 5 days later now. > > I'm still not 100 %. Guest guest
good for you great job. i know i had a headache too & spreading my food out throughout the day helped. also water, water, water remember to drink up! Lori From: Judi <j43r2002@...>Subject: 1st week Date: Thursday, June 18, 2009, 6:36 AM Well, after gaining four pounds on my two "loading" days, I lost five pounds on my first "500" calorie day! yipee. I am using the drops and I wasn't hungary, but did get a headache. I am going to have my fruit mid morning (after 10:30 am) today and not with my lunch, maybe that will alleviate the headache. So far so good!! J
