Not at all. I have C1512 on the left.and has my op just 5 months ago. Guess I

was lucky not to be involved with the cochlear recall as the AB recall did

affect me. That's why I waited so long my implant has not let me down at all so

far.

c1512

My granddaughter has had a failure in one of her bi-lateral C1512 implants. Have

any of you had the same experience with your implants?

you are involved in the recall as it is the piece inside your head they are

recalling , like myself too, let's just cross our fingers and hope we don't have

a failure , and my sympathies go out to those who have , I'm sure Reimplantation

is the last thing any implantee wants. I had a difficult recovery after surgery,

it is not an experience I would like to repeat !

You are fortunate. My granddaughter is only 2. So when I read about hearing

beeps when the processor is attached and pain, I have no idea what the

experience is like for her. I just watch a child who seems confused that she did

not hear, then heard with 2 ears, and now hears with 1. She cries in the night

and hits her head with her palms. I know that she will have to have surgery

again, this after her first 2 put in both implants was in June. We are afraid

that the 2nd will fail and she'll have to have even another surgery. I am

looking for others with failures to let us know what the experience has been

like for them and how the Freedom is working with the 1512, if you have these 2

implants. So many questions!

Unless your grand daughter is in pain, and she shouldn't be, it might be

wise to wait a bit for reimplantation. Ask the surgeon what she thinks.

As for how an N1512 and a Freedom would work together, it would be fine.

I've not heard of anyone having problems using the 2 together. I have

an N24 from 14 years ago and an N5 from 2 years ago, and both work fine

together.

Good luck to you and her,

I am looking for others with failures to let us know what the experience

has been like for them and how the Freedom is working with the 1512, if

you have these 2 implants. So many questions!

I couldn't agree more with you, , and . My Mom told me 50 years ago

to not look for ghosts under the bed. That was true then and is true today. In

this frame of mind we would all be afraid to cross the street for fear of being

hit by a car.

Dear Kathy,

My heart goes out to your granddaughter! Prayers that this surgery will be

successful and her recovery a smooth one! So very sorry you are all going

through this! Keep us posted on how it's going for her.

Best Wishes,

Patti
