Guest guest
NVRC News - June 28, 2011 ----------------- HLAA Convention Exhibits #9 - Clarity, Ultratec, Sonic Alert By Bonnie O'Leary, 6/28/11 Clarity , who is the National Account Manager for Clarity, wanted me to let our readers know about two new lines of phones that have been recently released. The first is the D7 line of cordless phones which give up to 40dB of amplification. One model comes with an answering machine. Four handsets can also be added to the system around the house. The D-724 which has a new feature enabling the user to insert a photo in each of the 4 memory buttons and program the handset with the phone numbers to correspond to the photos. Located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Clarity has a wide variety of assistive devices that include visual as well as auditory alert systems, telephone amplifiers, neckloops, TV listening systems and more. ClarityLogic is a service that personalizes a phone uniquely for the customer. When a user pressed the ClarityLogic button on the phone, a customer service representative is immediately on the line, knows which product the user has and can help make any adjustment the customer needs. The two ClarityLogic enabled products are the XL40D Amplified Big Button Speakerphone, and the XL45 Amplified Caller ID Speakerphone. I spoke with CapTel Outreach Manager, Kinstler, who wanted me to let readers know that they provide great customer service both in English and in Spanish. All you have to do is push the blue Customer Service button on the phone. The CapTel technology is evolving all the time, and now in addition to landline service, CapTel is available on the web, computers, and mobile phones. Services are provided by either Sprint Relay or Hamilton Relay. You can find CapTel on Facebook and Twitter, too, and asked me to mention that they were the top sponsors for the HLAA 2010 Walk4Hearing. What is the main difference between the 800 and 800i model? The CapTel 800 works with standard analog telephone line(s) or DSL with appropriate filter. Because the captions are provided by a captioning service, the person calling you must first connect with that service by dialing a toll free 877 number. The caller will then enter your phone number and press #, and the call will go through. The CapTel 800i, on the other hand, works like a regular phone because it is connected to the internet, so the person calling you can just call your number directly. There is more information about the phones and the CapTel service available at www.CapTel.com, or you can contact Kinstler at john.kinstler@.... _____ Sonic Alert Sonic Alert products are part of geemarc Telecom SA (GTSA). geemarc Telecom Ltd. was founded in 1974 in the UK, they were pioneers of cordless telephones in Britain. As their company became more international, they relocated their headquarters to northern France in 1991 and became geemarc Telecom SA. Sonic Alert Product Manager Eddie Brink actually remembered me from the HLAA conventions in Nashville and Milwaukee, and we had a nice chat about a couple of new telephones he wanted me to mention this year. The first is the geemarc BCP 400 model which offers a talking caller ID and a big display phone. Its features help people with vision and hearing loss, and the phone offers a 40dB gain. The other is the new Amplidect6.0, a cordless speaker phone with 40dB amplification. You can contact Eddie for more information at ejbrink@..., or visit www.geemarc.com. _____ C Copyright 2011 by Northern Virginia Resource Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons (NVRC), 3951 Pender Drive, Suite 130, Fairfax, VA 22030; <blocked::blocked::blocked::blocked::blocked::http://www.nvrc.org/> www.nvrc.org; 703-352-9055 V, 703-352-9056 TTY, 703-352-9058 Fax.
