Guest guest
Here are my favorite ways to eat raw garlic: Bite by bite with cooked chicken (this is the Greek way to do it) With hummus and pita bread, rip and dip, then add your clove on top, or make a sandwich With crackers and cheese, (especially feta, but watch the burn!) Crush the raw clove into some steaming organic chicken broth (mmm, nice on a cold day) In caesar's salad....my favorite recipe is in our database No gel capsule needed--you can just chop the clove into bite sized pieces and swallow them like pills. For the mouth, just crunch pieces of raw clove in your mouth a few times to break it up, then gulp down with orange juice to kill the burn. Helps kill bacteria in the mouth. I agree with Rogene....Kyolic is high priced and I am not sure about it's effectiveness. Raw garlic beats on both price and value, but social engagements present a problem. Try it chopped and swallowed as pills and perhaps the smell will be lessened. And definitely have your significant other join you when you indulge in garlic--for some strange reason, the smell is cancelled out between each other when both partake. It's a cool thing! ha ha Patty ----- Original Message ----- From: Rogene S Sent: Saturday, January 24, 2004 7:47 AM Subject: Re: More ideas on pain meds and Dr's etc I've tried Kyolic and didn't see a significant difference (except the price!). . . As far as garlic goes, nothing works better than raw, fresh, crushed garlic. . . I can tell the difference within 24 hours. I have an ear that becomes uncomfortable whenever I eat sweets. . . my ear discomfort parallels an increase in candida, as confirmed by the spit test. . . The spit test . . . The first thing in the morning, before putting anything in your mouth, spit in a glass of water . .. After 15 minutes, check it. . . if it's clear, you pass. If there is a milky blob floating, with tendrils hanging down, if there are floating chunks, or if there's a milky blob at the bottom of the glass, it indicates candida. . . The first time I had all three!. Now, I have a few tiny particles floating and a slightly cloudy appearance. It's important to drink non-chlorinated water too . . . the chlorine can kill the organisms you are trying to encourage via acidopholis, yogurt, Primal Defense, etc. I don't think that Garlic replaces beneficial organisms . . . it just combats the bad stuff! That's where the probiotics come in. Ways to eat raw garlic: . . spread some on some pizza (make it thin-crust, easy on the cheese) . . .put some on a salad . . . add it to soup after it cools a bit, put it on whole grain bread with a bit of mayo and/or sandwich ham, beef or turkey. You can also get some gel capsules at the pharmacy and pack the garlic into it yourself. You do need a garlic press . . . if you slice it, you need to chew it thorougly. Once you get past the idea of it, it's not as bad as it seems! . . . Just slip some garlic into your spouses food too! Eating an apple afterwards helps so much! If you can't stand raw garlic, grapefruit seed extract is also very effective. However, garlic is antioxident and a natural antibiotic as well.
