Folks -

For those of you in Southern California, it's time for the next monthly

HEAR2009 planning meeting!! This is the name of the HLA-California

conference that¹s held every two years!

When: This Saturday, April 12, at 12 noon

Where: The Hear Center, 301 East Del Mar in Pasadena.

We are now about 10 months away from the opening ceremonies, and work is

kicking into high gear. We¹ve got a good jump on things, but we have a lot

(a LOT!) of work ahead.

Critical jobs are currently open for interested folks, including the

following key committee chairpersons:

    HLA-CA Awards Banquet chair

    Workshops co-chair

    Food and Beverage chair

    Registration chair

    AV/Tech chair

The following committees have chairpeople, but need additional personnel

right away:

Exhibitors ‹ we need people to coordinate exhibitor needs and book

exhibition space

Workshops ‹ we need people to set criteria for workshops, suggest panels

and panel members, sift through applications, and ultimately set the program

schedule

Publicity and Promotion we need people to write copy for the website

and for numerous sponsorship, exhibitor and speaker materials

Please feel free to pass this around to everyone in the area who you know

are interested in hearing loss. Remember, you don't need to be a member of a

Hearing Loss Association chapter to be a big part of this conference. You

don¹t even have to have a hearing loss. You just need to have a little time,

a lot of energy and a passion for issues involving the hearing loss

community.

Feel free to write to me privately if you have any questions. Otherwise, we

hope to see a lot of you this Saturday afternoon. As always, we¹ll order in

a bunch of pizzas for lunch...

Best

Mike Kaplan, co-chair

P.S.  Pat Widman, my esteemed co-chair, won't be with us this Saturday.

She¹s taking some well-deserved R & R with her family.
