Guest guest
Kathy, I'm not taking any supplements right now. I am having a terrible time with my stomach and will have an endoscopy done on Monday to see what's going on in there. Oatmeal has always soothed my stomach, so I'm basically living on that right now. I think the cause of this flare was weaning off the pain meds. I was feeling pretty good until I started to wean. Then it was straight downhill. I got a call yesterday from my family doctor and he talked to my ex- rheummy and my pain doc. He said they all felt that I was " dependent on the pain meds " and that I needed to get some help from a psychologist! I faxed a letter to the pain doctor telling him that just because the implants were out didn't mean that magically the FMS, RA, etc. would disappear. I told him I agreed that I was dependent on the meds - duh! I'm in pain, what does he expect? I explained to him that 2 years ago I was on Oxycontin 20mg 2xday along with percocet 5mg every 4-6 hours for nearly a year because of endometriosis and adhesions (and 4 surgeries). And that I was weaned down slowly and never went into any withdrawal whatsoever and was off all narcotics for a year before I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last year. I haven't heard back from him yet. I just faxed it yesterday afternoon. I'm sure that if I go in there for an appt everyone in the office will be talking behind my back. I just didn't know what else to do. I have no other options at this point. , you said something about patient advocacy and patient rights, where can I find something in writing? I hate being taken advantage of. When I'm in a doctor's office, I feel like I have to cower in the corner and listen to whatever they tell me. My brother-in-law went to this same pain doctor for back pain. He was put on massive amounts of pain meds. Then I go there and he makes me feel guilty for being in pain! Thanks ladies for all the advice. Once I get the info on patient advocacy and rights, I'll go in there armed and dangerous! With words, of course! Guest guest
Pam, you are really going through Bullshit persicution. Now it seems your records are tainted. I've been thru so many similar situations. the places I went for treatemnt were against my Social Security and that followed me around for a long time. Asking for pain meds too. I couldn't get help for a long time. Now I don't even want the pain dr. but my PCP is forcing me to go back there. I had the worse withrawal from only one 50 mg duragesic patch its not worth it. I'm never taking that strong of a dose again. Natural truely has advantages though. Tordol is a nonnarcotic and very effective. Ask them for that. Flexeril is a non narcotic muscle relaxer - ask them for that. You may have to move. Can't you be referred to a completely other pain dr. You're really being treated badly. they just don't know how much pain is assoc. with FM and RA. I know we need something to get us thru. Certainly the winter has us more in pain. why don't you change PCP's and Pain Dr.'s it only takes a month. You'll definately never get anywhere with who you're dealing with! I've changed three PCP's in the last 6 mnths. I'm here for you. Love, Pam <nannapam37@...> wrote: Kathy, I'm not taking any supplements right now.
