Hi Lee,

I think no matter how well you do with a second language, you always

remember more and understand more in your primary language. Since

signing was your first language, then it stands to reason you would

remember more if you saw it that way. So, looks like you'll have to let

people know that everyone with a CI doesn't understand the same way. And

MANY people without a CI need interpreters, too.

Time to fight the good fight!

The other day, I saw a post in Facebook in which someone wrote that her

church does offer ALD for the HH and CI. I asked if they offer

interpreter

and this person said that everyone that have CI don't use it. Boy, I

didn't want to argue!

I am one of few who are still dependant on signing because I am not able

to

retain what I heard. What I am saying.. I can hear and understand but

forget what I heard few sentences later. The audi told me that he think

it

was because I spend around 45 years being a visual communicator. It does

make sense, but then, it could be my short term memory deficiency that

was

caused by lingering TBI from car accident 11 years ago. Either way, the

point is,,, there are some CI who for one reason or another are still

using

terp even though they can hear and understand.

Thank you for letting me vent,

Lee

Just the person I wanted to talk to. I've had the N5 upgrade for 4 weeks now.

I found out yesterday, when a CI friend came over to look at my remote, that my

audi has my sensitivity at12 and the programm is locked, so I can't change it.

My friend and I have the same audi and his can be changed, he was only on 6 and

he lowered it to 4. what does the number mean? I've always had a problem with

backiground noise, so I'm totally astounded and ticked off at my audi.
