recommend audiologist at NYU CI Center

Hi, All,

I went to NYU CI Center for evaluation last year and was told that I am

qualified to get a CI.

My question is about audiologist for activation and mapping after the

implant surgery. How important is the audiologist? Do I just take

which ever audiologist they assign to me? Can someone on the list

recommend an audiologist?

Hi, Carl,

The audiologist is the most important person on your team once you are

implanted. I happen to go to NYU, as well. I can tell you that, in this

case, that whomever you work with, you will do well. I work with Bill

Shapiro,

and several people I know work with Betsy. I'm not that familiar with the

other audiologists there, but I do know that, by reputation, they are all

good. If you have any questions the front desk ladies, Van and Shirley, are so

very helpful. Tell them that Jackie said to be nice! (giggles - just

hi carl...yes, the audiologist is VERY important in your CI journey!? i was

implanted in 1996 with the N-24 and i've been blessed to be working all these

years with betsey bromberg at NYU....she is amazing; she knows me like a

book??and although i'm now down to only once a year mappings, i can honestly say

that i have NEVER had a mapping she gave me that i hated; in the beginning when

i wanted to push the buttons and go further and wanted more, more, more, she

would bring me back to earth and give me what she knew was best for me...and she

was always right!!? she is very up to date on all training and just really knows

her stuff.....at the same time, all the audiologists at NYU are good, but i'm

biased! if you can get betsey, i highly recommend her!
