Guest guest
I am on our local Emergency Preparedness committee for disabled people. When we remove our cochlear processors, I typically put them in the Dry 'n Store for the night and the rechargeable batteries in the charger. Are the Dry 'n Store set to run for 8 hour cycles? If there is an overnight emergency can we interrupt the cycle to remove the processors? If we return the processors to the Dry 'n Store after the emergency, can we reset the Dry 'n Store and stop it before the end of that cycle to use the processors for the day? I know with my blindness I cannot move fast enough to carefully get them out and batteries in, but I will need to give this a trial run when I wake up one morning to time how long it takes me. I opt to be careful because one time I received an early morning call, and in my rush to put on my hearing aid, I dropped it and it broke. I had to get a new hearing aid. They are looking at a city alerting system in which pagers with regular text and voice may be used. For DeafBlind people such as myself a captioned radio with braille displays are in the works, but who knows how long it will take before this braille system is up and running. It would be quicker for me to receive the braille, but this is not an option now.
