Guest guest
Has anyone tried CaptiView at the movies yet? I've wanted to, for the longest time, and yesterday morning finally had a chance. I went to see " The Help " and used one of these devices. I can report that I was thrilled with the movie and with the device. It took me a little while (about 3 or4 minutes) to get the gooseneck situated to my best advantage, which was right in front of me, just below the screen. No one else can see and it reminds me of the captioning at the New York Metropolitan Opera which has the screen on the seat in front of you. Now that I know how CaptiView works. it won't take any time at all on my next visit. In the future, I will be able go to see any movie at any day or time. Currently we have two theater complexes which accommodate us – Cinemark Tinseltown which has the CaptiView and Regal which has the open captioning. I think we are fortunate in ville. I briefly researched the Cinemark theaters in Florida and around the country. They are the ones which provide CV and in Florida, the only Cinemark venues are in ville, Orlando and Southeast Florida. Texas has tons of theaters and there are a scattering in other states. California has none. That's not to say that other theater complexes don't have the CV, but I did not look further. This would be a good advocacy goal. On thing of which I'm reminded though, is how LOUD the sound is. I had to turn the sensitivity way down on my CI processor as well as turning the volume on my hearing aid down to zero. If people aren't hard of hearing yet, they soon will be by attending enough movies. Judy
