Implants from india, anyone?

Has anyone heard about getting cochlear implants from india? I hear they are

cheap relative to other places, but I am a bit curious as to the quality, market

availability, etc.

has anyone gotten an implant in India?

I am considering moving there, and considering the surgery (already have one,

going for the other).

I know cochlear has a website for india (http://www.cochlear.com/in/ ) but I'm

not sure how relevant that is when it comes to Indian dr's installing these

things.

Please let me know if youve heard anything

I can't imagine going to a 3rd world place for major surgery. Not sure

how soon you can fly afterwards, and what good is a better price for an

implant if it doesn't work, and you end up with the ear destroyed.

Better to appeal to your insurance company for bilaterals.
