Guest guest
Hi all Although I've been lurking for a long time, this is my first post. I am severely to profoundly hard of hearing. My mother had rubella when she was pregnant with me (early 1960's), and my hearing has progressed from mild/moderate loss to where I currently am. I now have two BTE ha's and just 'graduated' to the most powerful on the market, in the hope this would help me more than my 6 year old ha's had (they were the most powerful when I got them). These have helped slightly, but not enough to be significant. I'm moving forward on my CI journey and had my CT scan last week. I've heard a variety of time frames from surgery to activation, what is 'typical' or how long did you wait? I've heard as short as 2 weeks and as long as 6 weeks. How did you manage during that time? I'm currently working and not sure if I'll have to take the time off or not. There are many things I can do at the office and not hear. After activation, did you not wear your ha to rely solely on the CI or did you wear both? For those that have bilaterals, did you get them at the same time? if not what was the time difference between the two? Also, which ear did you implant first, the ear you feel you hear better or worse with? Also, (silly question, but...) how much hair did they shave for surgery? How long is your hair now and does it hide the CI or not? Thanks, Holly
