Sneezing?

Hi

I had a Nucleus 24 inserted on 16th October 2008 and was activated on 3rd

November 2008. Making progress, but not quite up to full speech clarity yet, but

patience is the key, right? :) I have just noticed that when I sneeze (can't

recall sneezing since the operation until now) I can hear a loud reverberating

" boom " noise, which fades rapdily. This happens with the processor on or off.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

When you sneeze, keep your mouth OPEN (gross as that sounds). Cover your

mouth, but don't close it. The pressure from a sneeze can mess up your

eustacian tubes. Some ENTs suggest that you always sneeze with your

mouth open. Sneeze into your elbow, so you're not spreading germs

around, etc. but that could be what is causing the boom.

I think if you were implanted in oct 2008, you probably got the Freedom

rather than the Nucleus 24. the N24 was followed by the N24 Contour, and

then the Contour Advance and finally the Freedom. So Nucleus 24 is an

older model. Unless there was a huge sale on older equipment, my bet is

you have the Freedom. Same info still applies. Sneeze into your elbow,

sneeze with your mouth open, etc.

Who really DOES have a Nucleus 24

from 12 years ago.
