Guest guest
Haha, it WAS meant as a compliment, . I was going to say feistyness, because I thought that described you. But then when I looked up feisty, I didnt like the look of the dictionary definitions. I meant someone who will fight for something if they know they are right and wont let go. Terrier-like was the best I could think of at the time. No offence meant. About your court story. Common sense doesnt always prevail. Its a wonder the idiots didnt pursue the case anyway, since the ticket had been written :-). Ted F. > > Gosh Ted, I think that was a compliment. Guest guest
Hi Deb, Ben & Ted F, Thanks for your compliments on the court story. It pays to know your rights and ask for them. People will try to get out of doing the right thing, and it never hurts to know what you are entitled to. Had a cop ask me if I spent a lot of time in court. This was when the City was issuing a second ticket for vending in an unauthorized area. They allow ticket scalpers, beggars, and street musicians in this area, and I, who pays $65 for a Peddler's permit and $120 for a Zone license, keep getting $187 tickets for trying to sell Browns merchandise in this area. My name is not on the zone permit, or believe me, they'd be tossing that out when I rquested special accommodations. We're going to ask to be grandfathered in since we've been in this location for 5 years now, and should have some " squatters rights " Anyway, I told the police officer that I don't spend much time in court at all, and if you know your rights, you don't HAVE to spend much time in court. Cost the court more than the fine, and they'll drop the charges. Simple economics. Meanwhile, I was tying up 5 other cops who were telling people this stand was closed and they couldn't buy anything. And I'm yelling, " Remember THIS the next time the city wants a levy " . My tying up the cops, keeping others from buying from me, allowed my friends in the same area to pack up and leave Dodge. So only my partner and I got the ticket. One police officer told me I'd better " get a move on " or he'd pack my stuff for me. I informed he I was disabled, and he'd better watch his mouth, or I'd report him to his supervisor (who happened to be there anyway). LOL. One time all of us in the area got tickets, so I asked if we could qualify for Group Rates. If you want a thankless task, try selling stuff before a Cleveland Browns game, playing the way they have been this year. When they are looking for a new head coach they can honestly advertise that you'll stay dry, because they only dump the ice water on the winning coach!! Happy Holidays. ____________________________________________________________ Start a rewarding Medical Transcriptionist career. Guest guest
Another great story, ! That is wonderful and I love your spirit. Sadly, you are right, the Browns are having a terrible year. When I was a child, I heard Bill Glass speak at my church and have followed the Browns ever since. Time for Romeo to find another t. Guest guest
Thanks, , Does you no use to get mad about things you cannot change at the time, but never hurts to put people on notice that things ARE going to change, and that you are going to be the instrument of that change. I'm on a first name basis with the Police Captain in the area, and the city councilman whose ward it is in, plus my own councilman. See if we can write some new laws before next year. YOu don't like what you see, do one of 2 things, change it or change your attitude about it. I intend to change the law. But in a nice way. I keep thinking I should just tell people, " Be reasonable, do it my way " . Thanks for the compliment. Everyone tells me I should write a book. But who would believe it? , YOU are a riot! I love people that can make me laugh, and YOU have been cracking me up with your stories! I love them! Hi Deb, Ben & Ted F, Thanks for your compliments on the court story.
