Guest guest
Margo, I enjoyed hearing about your activation, though I know you were disappointed. . Given you went through 4 programs in such a short time, even if you only hear buzzing, I say you are doing great. Try to expose the " new " ear to many environmental sounds with & without the other CI, & do not overtire yourself while doing so. You are a pioneer. Please keep us posted. Guest guest
Wow, Margo, what a wonderful and inspiring story. I was implanted in my left ear with the Freedom in August 2006. I have been deaf in in my right ear for 69 years of my 69 years of life. I like you would love to go bilateral. My audi explained with Medicare it is almost impossible for them to approve since they approved the first implant and since my right ear has been deaf since birth and never stimulated, it would not be successful. I am eager to " hear " how you do........if it takes 6, 9 or 12 months, I am sure it will be worth the wait it in the end. Happy Holidays, a Borenstein
Guest guest
Margo, Sounds like that you are doing well and since I was born with a hearing loss it took me about six and half months to get the clarity of the sounds. The indication from your statements does sounds like that you will get a great deal from your implant.
Guest guest
Margo, Thank you for sharing your bilateral journey. I really enjoyed reading it. Yep, expections have to be kept low and hopes high, along with determination, positive attitude, and practice is important. I remember my audi telling me that she wanted to keep the volume low so that I could get used to it, but I " mazed " out my programs within a week each time. It was like my brain adapted to the volume and wanted more input. I do, however, get a moment of " oh, it's loud " once I turn on the CI, but within minutes, if not seconds, it's the " right " volume.
