Guest guest
Judy, I don't know what are your political beliefs, but since ADA is a law, I still think the government should contribute at least a small bit of it, regardless of their financial situation. Re: Hospital and the DHH I hope you enjoyed the video, . We know very well that ADA laws don't work unless we challenge those who don't follow them. All I can say regarding the state paying though, is lots of luck. Florida is going broke like many others and cutting back right and left. We have to use our ingenuity for something like this. Guest guest
, I dont know that political beliefs have anything to do with this. The law is the law. But when it comes to money, where will it come from? If there is construction underway or budgeted for, any ADA compliance will follow. But to take the position that the ADA is a law and thats that, and expect the entities in questuion to cough up what is not there, thats unrealistic. That is not to say we should just sit back and wait until the economy recovers. We still need to be proactive, to advocate. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Look up and not down; look forward and not back; look out and not in; and lend a hand. & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn Newport, Oregon N24C 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
Guest guest
, Long explanation short... Fundings for ADA comes from various kinds of agencies, such as DOT, non-profit agencies, state and local government programs, etc. Therefore, from what I know, our tax money to these kind of stuff... If we are taxpayers, we should have as much rights as others in terms of accessibility. " Not enough money " should not be an excuse... From: rclark0276@... Guest guest
, Hmmm, old topic. LOL Well its good you expect to get what you think you should because its the law. That is fine. But regardless of the financial source, dont be surprised if you are told, we will do it...when we have the funds. " " Not enough money " should not be an excuse... " Right! But the reality is, the whole country is taking a huge hit in the wallet at all levels. And no telling how long it will take to recover. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Why do they call it the Department of Interior when they are in charge of everything outdoors? & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn E-mail- rclark0276@... Guest guest
I know it's an old topic... I finally got around to cleaning out my inbox. I have less than 6,000 new emails as of now. Yes the economy is bad right now, but I think there should be some priorities to who should get the funds, etc. From: rclark0276@... Guest guest
- Thats another reason why the economy sucks... IMO Bush spent too much money on the military over the last 8 years but I know that is not the only one factor to the decline in the economy. Also I think the government has been making the wrong priorities for the last several years.... Many years ago, I heard that drug addicts easily could take government's mony to drug themselves. But perhaps that changed now. And, it is up to each individual to fight for their rights and deafness... I don't tolerate how the people who are disabled are being treated so I am taking a stand for them so the government could recognize that deafness also causes some sort of struggle for others. Re: Hospital and the DHH Hi , Unfortunately there ARE priorities on who gets the money. Number one is military. I once saw a poster that said, " Wouldn't it be great if the Air Force had to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber, and school children got the textbooks they needed.? " Don't know who sets the priorities, but notoriously the disabled are way low on everyone list, especially people with a silent disability like deafness. We aren't in wheelchairs, or missing limbs, so people think there is nothing wrong with us. Yes the economy is bad right now, but I think there should be some priorities to who should get the funds, etc. ____________________________________________________________ Be there without being there. Guest guest
, There is a great deal that goes on behind closed doors, and has been going on for decades. There are people who manipulate the economy and thus control how the country operates. The invasion of Iraq was not based on political reasons, but financial (oil). Did you know the Federal Reserve is actually operated by the private sector, not Uncle Sam? Ever wonder where all that money for the bailouts is coming from? They just print out what they need. Do you know what this money is backed with? Its not silver, nor is it gold. They did away with that in the 70s. The states and cities cannot print money, so they must hold their hands out to Uncle Sam, who doles out what he wants. The money that has already been handed to the banks via the bailout will never trickle down to us. Much of it has gone to the CEO's and key employees in the form of bonuses. If you want to start somewhere, you can start demanding that money be returned to us. Why are we bailing out companies that misused or mismanaged their assets? They are the ones that brought about the foreclosure crisis that led to the credit freeze that led to the thousands of layoffs and thousands of businesses closing that is leading to an ever increasing avalanche effect. Its very unfortunate that the disabled and seniors are facing huge cutbacks. Blame it all on those who manipulate the economy. They are untouchable. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Fashion is something barbarous, for it produces innovation without reason and imitation without benefit. -- Santayana, philosopher (1863-1952) & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn E-mail- rclark0276@... Guest guest
Yes, - I'm in total agreement with you here. I saw on CNN today that President Obama would like to hear from the people what they would like to see him address during the first 100 days. This was my thought exactly!!! ************************ If you want to start somewhere, you can start demanding that money be returned to us. Guest guest
, I need to send Obama my comments too and soon. I agree with him in spirit but the means is, in my opinion, too unrealistic at this stage. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Fashion is something barbarous, for it produces innovation without reason and imitation without benefit. -- Santayana, philosopher (1863-1952) & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn E-mail- rclark0276@...
