I don't know about iodine and depression but there have been several

studies with tryptophan usage being far better

than the anti-depression meds, also magnesium has helped people too. I

take tryptophan for sleep and it's great!

You can google for info regarding trytophan and the racket controversy

around pharmaceuticals.

You mean we can buy Tryptophan? I thought it was taken off the market? Do you get it online? If so, please share your source?

I, too, take 5-HTP (precursor to tryptophan) which helps me sleep well

and also for depression...be sure, though, to take a capsule of B-6

with it so it is ingested better...

Vitacost has very good prices on tryptophan...it was taken off the

market but the reasoning for it was controversial.

Prozac was heavily promoted. I will try and find the article about the

drug industry bit. anyway I buy from vitacost...the address is

vitacost.com.

I buy the bulk of my vitamins there as the prices and quality are

great. The only brand other brand I buy

is Nature's Way Alive! Multivitamin Whole Food Energizer -- 180

Tablets, which is a fantastic multi and

is made from whole foods. ...and Magnesium the other mag I posted

earlier about.

I am letting the group know about this as I think this multi is a great

price and product.

Tryptophan is also available as a valuable constituent of undenatured whey.

I use NOW brand. Flavored whey has carbs. Plain way is not very

appealing to me, but is low carb. So I blend the two. My blood

sugars are running high, so I keep increasing the amount of plain

while decreasing the amount of vanilla.

Have you heard of NanoPro, it's the brand I'm using now? It has less than 2

carbs with stevia.

Source Naturals also had one I used that was really low carb, that I think had

stevia in it.

NanoPro looks good, but I am sure not rich enough to afford it.

Source Naturals is cheaper but still out of my price range. I use

close to 100 grams a day.
