Guest guest
What do you mean exactly by half life. Are you talking about iodine in water. Or time to evaporate? Thanks, Irene At 04:51 PM 1/17/2008, you wrote: Some time ago, I asked an iodine biochemist about the half life of iodine. He said that they had found the half life to be 7 hours, with a standard deviation of 2 hours -- and that his measurements were consistent with other measurements in the literature. Guest guest
I wondered the same thing since half life refers to things that decay - radioactive materials more specifically. Guest guest
I'm not zoe but: The duration of action of a drug is known as its half life. This is the period of time required for the concentration or amount of drug in the body to be reduced by one-half. We usually consider the half life of a drug in relation to the amount of the drug in plasma. A drug's plasma half-life depends on how quickly the drug is eliminated from the plasma. http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/nursing/sonet/rlos/bioproc/halflife/index. html Hope this helps. Guest guest
Half life is referring to the amount of time it takes 50% of the initial concentration to be excreted from the body. It is referring to what happens after you consume it. It's a basic physiologic parameter for drugs. If you look on the label of all approved drugs you will find this data. It falls under the category of "pharmacokinetic" data. Zoe Re: half life of iodine What do you mean exactly by half life. Are you talking about iodine in water. Guest guest
So, it seems to me like taking 3 small doses every day might be better than 1 larger dose, once a day.
