Meds are usually stopped for 24 hours before taking a blood test.

Hi can anyone tell me should i stop my medication, i am on 31/4 grains of armour, i am diagnosed hypo patient but not sure if I should change my meds before first consultation/ As i am sure i have seen on here some people do.

Not quite sure what you are asking Carol, but if it is a question about whether you should stop your medication before having a blood test, then the answer is yes. We recommend stopping for at least 24 hours. It would be better to stop for as long as you could, and to be honest, to get a really TRUE reading you would have to stop for at least 6 weeks - but I wouldn't expect anybody to have to go through that. If you are going cold again and getting hypo. symptoms, it could be that your adrenals are low and they need support. Are you taking any adrenal support at all?

Hi ChrisI hate hospital, i am not being sick all the time it is very strange and happens on and off was like this two days ago, i seem only to bring up bile. I also started getting this pain under my ribs on the right side as well it comes and gos as well, it make you kinda jump. I saw on google that it could be adrenal am i in danger or can i wait my heart is not pounding or anything. Although i feel unwell but cant say exactly what it is if that makes any sense at all. Hi Carol,

Have you had your gallbladder out? I had similar symptoms and it was

gallstones. Does the pain come after you have eaten a fatty meal?

especially at night. The first time it happened to me it was after

going to a bbq and I was in agony all night, I was vomiting on and

off and was extremely uncomfortable this carried on for a whole week,

and then happened everytime I ate anything that had too much fat in

it.

Hi ChrisI hate hospital, i am not being sick all the time it is very strange and happens on and off was like this two days ago, i seem only to bring up bile. I also started getting this pain under my ribs on the right side as well it comes and gos as well, it make you kinda jump. I saw on google that it could be adrenal am i in danger or can i wait my heart is not pounding or anything. Although i feel unwell but cant say exactly what it is if that makes any sense at all.

Hi there I have had my gallbladder out, thank heavens, the pain is just below my ribs it comes and goes a little like gall pain, but its not anywhere else. I have stopped feeling sick now and the pain has subsided. I know i do not have any trapped stones as they have given me ultra sound in the past. Hi Carol,

Have you had your gallbladder out? I had similar symptoms and it was

gallstones. Does the pain come after you have eaten a fatty meal?

especially at night. The first time it happened to me it was after

going to a bbq and I was in agony all night, I was vomiting on and

off and was extremely uncomfortable this carried on for a whole week,

and then happened everytime I ate anything that had too much fat in

it.

Hi GillNo the pain is only under my ribs, it seems to build up then go away, very strange. not gallbladder that was taken out. and no uterus, no appendix. the last surgeon i saw said there is not much left. Hi Carol, hmm!! That theory gone by the wayside then!! I postend some while ago because i had pains in my ribs, Ive come to the conclusion that its fibromyalgia type pains (aka hypoT). I get it sometimes and then not others. It does seem to be related to sleep, if Ive not slept well I get it. I do take amytriptylene to help me sleep, I know some people think this is not a good thing, but for the pain and stiffness it has helped a great deal - if I get these sorts of pain I take an extra one and an early night and that sorts it out.

Other than this I really dont know - unless its adhesions from your previous surgery? That doesnt account for your sickness though. Sorry not to be of help.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Gallbladder disease and

hypothyroidism are connected although I can't remember where. I've

been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia too. I tried the amytriptylene but

it made me feel awful, which was a shame. I know what you mean about

the sleep side of things.

Hi Angie, I think Ive read something about HypoT and gall bladder disease too, but no idea where! My consultant said it was hereditary (I was about 28 at the time) and the gall bladder was deformed, 'your mother had it didnt she?' he said, and he was right, she did! Sleep does seem to be important, the amitrriptylene does work for me so Im sticking with it for the time being. I think some people find melatonin useful to help sleep - might be worth looking into? I know that if i sleep I am okay and if I dont my pains are much worse. I havent tried to stop the amytriptylene since I started on thyroxine, when I feel I am up to a proper dose I will give it a go, though I have to say at the moment it works for me very well!

Hi

I too get pain below mostly my left rib amd sometimes right. It can be very sharp on occasion and makes me cry out, usually its a dull ache. I put it down to my adrenals. It hasnt been as bad now Im on cortisol.

Dear Carol

If I can jump in at this late stage into the conversations you have been having with other ladies, all of whom have been very kind in trying to help you and say that firstly, I would not wish to alarm you because, hopefully, what I was going to suggest will not apply to you.

When you mentioned adrenal fatigue and sickness, I thought that primarily maybe you ought to see the doctor who could then bring forward your appointment with your endocrinologist.

When I was in hospital being treated for hypo symptoms, I became friends with a lady who had been treated for s disease and some of her symptoms were sickness on and off, tummy pain, low blood pressure and lose of weight.

Hopefully it is just a thought and as you are reading this you will be feeling much better, but did you take up on Sheila's suggestion to google "vomitting low adrenal reserve" which I thought was a good idea.

With this wretched life-long disease (hypothyroidism) we all have to be aware that, unfortunately, our health cannot always be stable, so sometimes we have to explore all avenues. Hope you are well again soon. Luv .

Hi Carol

I am not sure, but do ask him to either do a 24 hour urine test to see the amount of cortisol there is or to do a short synacthen test. He may not do either, because I am sorry to say, most NHS practitioners are not even aware of an adrenal/thyroid connection. However, don't let my comments put you off, you might have a good doctor and he may well be prepared to listen to you. Can you get the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile done through NPTech Services. This will tell you exactly where your cortisol and DHEA are at four specific times during the day and NPTech will snow you a normal graph of where they should be, and your graph laid over the top showing where yours lie. This is a better test than the short synacthen test. The sooner you can find out the sooner you can start treatment by taking some form of adrenal glandulars.

I'm sorry I can't be more help on this one Carol, but let's wait until next week and see what your consultant comes up with.

Hi again Sheila i have done the questionnaire and found i have adrenal problem, is that why i am vomit ting on and off as well. Boots have phoned to tell me that the armour is in and ready for me to collect. will dr barnes be able to sort out my adrenal problem surely vomitting every other day is not normal.

Ask your GP if your pain and bile vomit could be related to a gallbladder problem.

Hi ChrisI hate hospital, i am not being sick all the time it is very strange and happens on and off was like this two days ago, i seem only to bring up bile. I also started getting this pain under my ribs on the right side as well it comes and gos as well, it make you kinda jump. I saw on google that it could be adrenal am i in danger or can i wait my heart is not pounding or anything. Although i feel unwell but cant say exactly what it is if that makes any sense at all.

Being diagnosed with fibromyalgia could mean you are suffering with thyroid hormone deficiency. Usually T3. You need to include some form of T3 (either synthetic or natural) - and then the pains just might go away. Have you read Dr Lowes' website.

Hi Gill,I'm sure I've read somewhere that Gallbladder disease and hypothyroidism are connected although I can't remember where. I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia too. I tried the amytriptylene but it made me feel awful, which was a shame. I know what you mean about the sleep side of things.Angie

Sharp stabbing type pains that come and go and make you jump could just be a nerve. Does it feel as if it is in the muscle or further in.
