Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to this group and I have read just about every post there has been. I am a 5 year breast cancer survivor and just recently had my 5th PET scan done that showed two nodules one on each side of the thyroid. I had FNA last Thursday and haven't got the results officially yet however the cytopathologists did do two and said thye were benign but didn't say what it was. The surgeon came in after he was done and said " That's great news " . Now what we will do is a RAI scan and probably we will do hormone suppression therapy to shrink the nodules. He was gone before I even know what to ask. I was somewhat relieved but at the same time wondering why the hormone suppression therapy if it is benign. So I did my homework and discovered that more than likely I am looking at a precancerous collection of follicular or papillary cells gone amuke. I am going for test results officially on Thursday but I really don't want to do the RAI scan as both nodules will probably show up " cold " . Why do I say that? Because that's what the PET scan does. The injection you receive is insulin laced with a radioactive material and cancer cells love sugar they light up like a XMAS tree. And two nodules showed up " hot " . This is a no brainer to me. They probably are " hot " with cancer cells. Knowing all that you guys know can you give me some suggestion as to how I can shrink these nodules even if I had to have my holistic doc do suppression therapy with Armour. I've been on 50 mgs of Iodoral for a little over a month. I haven't seen all my thyroid labs but she said they were good. I got threw the initial shock of Iodoral with a rash and runny nose etc and now I'm just constipated but I will stay the course on 50 mgs or up it if I have to. I take all the co-factor nutrients so I can get my thyroid healthy again. I think if anything I have always run low normal thyroid but never was diagnosised " hypo " . I have my holistic doc appointment tommorrow and I know she communicates with Dr. Flechas almost daily so I know she is willing to do anything I ask. I'm just soooo new to this I don't know exactly what to do. Any advice I would really appreciate it.
