Hello All

Its been 5 years since i was banded, i have been at goal for almost 4.

I left the boards about 2 years ago, when life and activity and job

and everything 'got too involving'....

i realised today, that i needed to come back, to continue my life

qwest to remain slim and healthy. Reading many mails so far has made

me see how much i missed and relied on the daily support !

i have had no issues or problems, only one unfill prior to spinal

surgery last year and a refill 3 months later, still getting the

11lbs i gained in those 3 months with no restriction, although im not

stressed about it, it is what it is.i also admit that i enjoyed

eating less mindfully, easily sliping into the old habits that i

hadnt allowed for so many years !

quickly seeing how dangerous it is for me, to let that continue, i

got back on track and even now, 5 years later, i can still loose

steadily and mindfully - it is a joy unleashed.

i have been able to increase my passions, my family and my dogs and

many sports - so just simply, im glad to be back to getting the much

needed and missed encouragement and support from such a wonderful

list

i have seen a number of plastic surgeons prior to surgery for TT,

lift, brachioplasty neck lift, but so far my work and competing

schedule have prevented any serious further reconstructive work -

looking forward to hanging out for a while

Thanks for the super post.

I was banded as 12/10/07. I am doing great but I am a

little concerned over the next 12 months on whether I can keep this up. You

just gave me the boost I needed for the long haul!

Really appreciated.

Jay, I'm not sure what you mean by " over the next 12 months " ?

Banding is a new way of life that wd need to keep up forever, if we

want to keep the weight off. It's a very simple thing to regain if we

go back to old habits.

Banding involves many lifestyle hanges to support a heathier life so

we can boith lose now and maintain later.

Did your doc go over all this with you? That banding is not just

another temporary diet? some docs seem not to, an that is a great

disservice, imo.

im sure you can Jay,

i have never been a very disciplined person, in fact if im told to do

something, i probably would have spent more time trying to be

creative in not doing something.

however, i realy had made the mental 'mind shift' into this was what

i really wanted to do for myself.

Being a parent, it was very easy to slip into the guilt ridden

excuse " oh my family come first " , and so let myself off the hook so

to speak, but we all will do whatever it takes if we really want

something...i decided to make that choice - this was what i

wanted....and then it was very simple to keep going.

its making that choice, which you already did by getting the

procedure done ! congratulations.

keep coming to the boards and support groups if you have one near by,

maintaining a constant presence has been helpful for me, even if its

reading similar instructions day after day, it really does become a

part of you..

Continued Success and thank you for responding to my mail

Exactly right. If you don't take care of yourself, you won't be able

to take care of your kids and you'll never even see your grandkids.

If anyone sets their mind to it, they can do it. Really.

Some of us need some help from counseling with a person who really

KNOWS obesity issues (and not just anorexia/bulimia...there are

similarities, but there are many differences too)
