Does this mean I could have candida?

I have always got a white coating on my tongue, and it makes things a

bit unpleasant. I can tell there is a coating on my tongue just by the

way it feels in my mouth. Also I have very little sense of smell, is

this inicative of candida?

Iv been to GPs about it and they said its just geographic tongue, or I

have a little gingivitis so use mouthwash. Thing is I used mouth wash

about a year a go and it got worse, so I was given Nystatin. I used it

for two weeks and my tongue started to clear up. Then another GP did a

swab of it and said their is no candida.

I'm very confused.

Yes, it does. Did your GP do a swab for Candida Albicans - there are several strains of Candida?

You don't need a referral to see Dr Peatfield. I can't advise you whether to see your "normal" endo. first as I don't know him, but I can tell you that the majority of the endocrinologists in the Leeds area are not known for being 'hypothyroid patient friendly'. They don't test for T3 and say there is no requirement for this. I have never heard good from the area you live. However, we are getting pretty well booked up so don't leave it too late. If you can afford it, my own view is that you would be better seeing Dr Peatfield as you have adrenal and possible candida issues - and the NHS recognises neither as having a thyroid connection. If you have an early appointment with your "normal" endo, then see him and see what he says, but meanwhile, do you want me to pencil in an appointment to see Dr P for you?

I would really like to see Dr Peatfield.I will be getting my results from thyroid and ACTH this week. Should Isee my normal endo first about it and then see Dr Peatfild if hedoesnt do anything, or just go see Dr Peatfield?Do I have to get another refereal from my GP to see him?Jonny

Give him a call Jonny. His number is 01883 623125. I only arrange the clinic he has at my home and he will be able to tell you whether he is anywhere nearer to you rather than you going all the way to Crawley as you do need to see him as soon as you can. I am waiting for an update on his clinics to put on our website.

Let me know how you get on.
