I make all drinks myself; that is real squeezed orange / lemon or the

like.

Does fruit contain bromine or is it added in the prosessing?

I also wish I knew about iodine earlier!

>>>Does fruit contain bromine or is it added in the prosessing? <<<As far as I am aware of fruits do not contain bromines. (But I am still learning here!)I think if it is added in processing it will say on the label, so check labels.

But the citrus FLAVORED drinks do contain brominated citrus oils. I saw in the list Mountain Dew, Fanta, (which I LOVE), Dr Pepper, ...There was one or two more I think. I am sure fresh squeezed juice is fine! YUM!--

Non-organic Strawberries can contain bromide. They use a pesticide called Methyl Bromide that is sprayed on them. It was banned and then a month or so ago they re -authorized it for use. Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO) is found in mainly citrus drinks to help suspend the flavoring. It will make the drink a murky consistency which is what many people report about their urine when upping the dosage of iodine and flushing bromide out. It becomes murky.

Methyl bromide is never sprayed ON strawberries. It is a gas applied to the soil weeks before strawberries are planted. As a gas, it dissipates into the air over a short period time. That is the main issue with its usage, not the impact on food itself.

very interesting, ; I avoid prosessed drinks / pops; easy at

home but not so easy on holiday / birthday party ++

I did not know about the strawberries;

If Methyl bromide is used big time + fluoride no wonder the kids go

low on iodine!

I adviced a Hypothyroid friend of mine to drop fluoride toothpaste;+

supplementation with iodine (very low dose; 150ug)

next time at the doctor the thyroidmed dose seeemed far to high; so

she started with fluoride toothpaste again!

That may be true... *however* -- all pesticides are estrogenic. Ingesting pesticides causes estrogen dominance because these chemicals mimic estrogens in the body. Same thing with exposure to plastics and other chemicals. I think meat and dairy with added growth hormones (and feed for the animals that was sprayed with chemicals -- not to mention the fact that they are eating soy) as well.http://www.americanwellnessnetwork.com/index.php/Women-Beware-of-Estrogen-Dominance-by-Lorna-Vanderhaeghe.htmlhttp://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/bv.fcgi?rid=dbio.box.5198http://www.womenlivingnaturally.com/articlepage.php?id=72I think it's best to try to avoid all chemicals, pesticides, plastics, hormones and antibiotics -- as much as we can. I know, it's not easy. But I do try to buy all organic -- most especially meat and dairy. I also try to buy grass-fed meat and dairy and poultry and eggs from chickens on pasture.Ann MarieOn Apr 18, 2008, at 1:14 PM, DeCubellis Ranch wrote:Methyl bromide is never sprayed ON strawberries. I am not addressing other pesticides. I'm clarifying the misconception that there is bromide applied to, and therefore retained in, strawberries.

But it is in the strawberries because it is in the soil.

She needed less thyroid meds and instead of reducing her dose she added the

fluoride tooth paste back? Does that make any sense? Fluoride is worse

than an iodine inhibitor it is a bone destroyer.

It doesn't stay in the soil, that's the point. It's only used as a gas application which leaves the soil.

For me that made no sense of course. For her; it was doctors order.

She was quite impressed though; that such a small change could make

such a big difference (I was too)

I have avoided fluoride as much as possible on the kids and myself.

If I had not; I would possibly be a full blown hypothyroid by now

instead of a borderline. Earlier I used kelp to keep my metabolism

going, but unfortunately I belived the authorities about the amount

of iodine needed. Iodoral / iodine tablets are not legally sold in

Norway; can you believe that ? So when I finally came to understand

about iodine; I had to buy Lugols from a chemical supplier.

Works fine !
