Guest guest
Hi Wyn TPA-UK gets a very heavy amount of traffic. The best thing to do is to go to the Home Page thyroid treatment and at the top of this page, I think a little towards the left (in purple) you will see "Edit my Membership". Click on that and then where it gives you options how to receive messages, click "Daily Digest". That way, your Inbox will not get full and you will receive a Daily Digest which has up to 25 messages in one email. I too am over-whelmed at times, but I have to receive individual emails to keep on top of what is happening on the forum. Please have a look in our Files (you can navigate your way there from the Home Page of this website). There is lots more information there than on my website - some of it is more practical and personal that may help you further. You certainly have been through the mill, and I wonder how you would fare if you started taking Armour Thyroid, as this product contains all the hormones a normal thyroid secretes. It does, however, contain T3 and you would have to start on this slowly so your body gets used to it. So many heart problems can be caused through lack of diagnosis and no treatment (or under-treatment). If only doctors would realise this. Your specialist is being cautious at recommending a rise of 25 mcgs only, this is the best way, but after that, you may feel much better, so wait and see. You will have learned that there are other problems why thyroxine , for some reason, suddenly doesn't seem to work anymore and they are - low adrenal fatigue, Candida Albicans and low ferritin (stored iron). Any (or all) of these, once treated, makes thyroxine work much better. You should ask your GP to test your TSH, Free T4 and Free T3. Some laboratories refuse to test Free T3, and heavens knows why because T3 is the active hormone and has to get into every cell to make the body function. Thyroxine (T4) is an inactive hormone and it has to convert through the liver to the active T3. Many people are unable to do this, and they are candidates for additional synthetic T3 added to their T4, or Armour Thyroid. By writing on the forum is important, as what each of us has to say, in some way, helps others. You would be surprised how many people come back and say "You could have been talking about me". This is the way we all learn. luv - Sheila It was this last blip that made look on the net and I so admire the way you are fighting for better treatment for your group. How I wish I could have known all this many years ago. I think many of my ailments could have been prevented if I had your knowledge, Ihave severe arthritis, Had both my knees replaced, have diabetes, have chondrocalcinosis and before I had my pacemake I was havig blackouts where my heart stopped for some seconds before (luckily) it started again. Thanks to your website I am now going to find out exactly what my TSH is. I have never heard of T3 and T4 before so I am so glad I "met" you all.Best wishes to you and all your group and good luck with all your efforts.WynPS I live in Camden, London, Any good specialists here ? Guest guest
Hi Wyn, It's very sad to hear how poorly you were treated and for such a long time. I really hope that you can resolve the latest dosage issue with your GP. Thank you so much for your story, it confirms for me that I AM doing the best thing to regain my health by ignoring the doctors who say there's nothing wrong with me.
