Guest guest
Hi Sam ...and welcome to our Forum. I sincerely hope you will get all the help and support you need here. Can you get your daughters last blood test results and post them here, together with the laboratory reference range for each test. Your doctor will let you have these. Tell us a little of her history and how she was found to be hypothyroid. There is, sadly, few doctors in the UK who have the training to know how to treat hypothyroidism, outside the treatment with thyroxine (T4) only. If you would like a private doctor's opinion, you should let us know what part of the country you live and we can send you the name of somebody in your area privately. Meanwhile, please read everything under 'Hypothyroidism' in our website www.tpa-uk.org.uk or look in the FILES on this forum and also the many great links too. You will find valuable information here. I look forward to receiving your daughters last thyroid blood results. luv - Sheila hi i have a 14 yr old daughter who as under active thryoid we see consultant every 4 to 6 months but i feel left in the dark is there any advice the group can give memany thanks sam No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
Hi Sam, glad you've decided to investigate your daughter's health and treatment yourself and not just leave it to the doctors. Well done mum! If you read through the files and through some of the questions on the forum that will be a good start. But you can also ask the questions that you obviously have already, that have made you look into this further, and that way you will be getting the answers that you need just now. But you will find plenty of support and knowledge here and if your daughter wants to join herself and pose her own questions that will be good too. Guest guest
Hi Sam, you are right to check it out - there are many doctors who dont have much idea about treating thyroid diseases, so read up and the questions will come as and when they do, then you can ask questions. Also keep an eye on the forum for other questions and answers as you can learn a lot that way too. Guest guest
Hi Sam Seems like you also need looking after in the same way as your daughter does. Do ask your GP to give you a full thyroid function test as well as your daughter. They will let you have the results of both of you and remember, post the laboratory reference range for your tests too so we can see what might be happening.
