Guest guest
Hi Your antibodies are not always high and once they have destroyed your thyroid tissue, as there is no need for them anymore, they will just disappear. It really doesn't matter whether they high or whether they are low, if you have antibodies they will get on with the job they were designed for. Sometimes there will be a lot, othertimes there will be little. There is no point in having further antibody tests once you have been diagnosed as having them. Luv - Sheila HI What dose are you on? I think you need to be on quite a high dose to feel well with Hashis, I am now on 175mcg of Levo. My doctor said the anti bodies will always be high, I wonder if he is right there? I think Hashis needs to be dealt with by an endo as doctors dont know how to deal with it, I am waiting for an appointment to see an NHS endo, I have good and bad days with this like we all do I guess .. Guest guest
I do believe that yes the thyroid gland will eventually be destroyed but taking all the relavent hormones that is produces will sustain life as in we wont die!! Guest guest
HI Arlene Yes, unfortunately, it is right that eventually, the antibodies will destroy your thyroid gland. These antibodies work ONLY on your thyroid tissue, you can have antibodies that will work away to destroy other tissues in your body. Seems strange doesn't it that we can make 'orrible antibodies that will turn against us, but gradually, if you have thyroid antibodies, they will - probably over years and years gradually destroy all the tissue so you are no longer able to excrete thyroid hormones. That is why we need to take thyroid hormone replacement for the rest of our lives and probably that is why people taking natural thyroid extract (Armour thyroid) feel so well, because they are taking ALL the thyroid hormones their body requires. The majority of people can take synthetic L-thyroxine only as this will convert to the other thyroid hormones that are needed, but either synthetic combination of T4/T3 or Armour work the best. majority of sufferers with thyroid disease have antibodies to their thyroid, so there are tens of thousands of us who have no thyroid gland and we do very well. luv - Sheila SheilaIs that right, that the thyroid gland will eventually be destroyed, is it not very dangerous to live without one?ByeArleneNo virus found in this incoming message.
