Guest guest
Carol, this is an area I do not know anything about but I would like to ask Is this a case of post-code prescribing? If so, which area does your PCT cover? Do you know if other localish PCT's are more accommodating? Curious, Tracey > > Hi there I have been chasing my prescription this morning to be told that the PPA are deciding whether they will pay for it or not. And at the same time the pharmacist told me that they have told her that no GP in Kent would prescribe this medication as they had told them they are not allowed to prescribe it. This is just what I thought. > I need to know what do do if the PPA say they will not pay for my NHS prescription what next please. > > Carol > X
Guest guest
Hi there TraceyMy PCT is Maidstone and Weald in Kent and its very big. I am not sure what I can do about this at all. It all takes so long and is so frustrating. Guest guest
They would need to produce 'evidence' that "they are not allowed to prescribe it". We have evidence to say they can if thyroxine doesn't work. It is up to a GP whether he does, because it is not licensed. If the GP refuses, sadly, there is nothing you can do about it. Guest guest
I am sorry Sheila I do not understand what you are saying, does the doctor have to give you evidence that the pct will not allow them to prescribe a drug? Guest guest
I think I am getting a little lost Carol *grin*. You asked what to do if the PPA refused to pay for your prescription. I was just saying that I would ask them to give you reasons why they would refuse to pay and to back it up with evidence to show they were right to refuse to pay for your prescription. luv - Sheila I am sorry Sheila I do not understand what you are saying, does the doctor have to give you evidence that the pct will not allow them to prescribe a drug?
