You're exactly right. My wife understands perfectly, and I knew what I was getting into. Gail had her stomach stapled in 81, and when we got together in 90 she was still barfing regularly due to restriction, not eating right, eating wrong things, etc. So I was familiar with it from " the other side " , and she sure understands the issues with me. She no longer has any restriction to speak of, since she doesn't have anything adjustable and her " stoma " (well, sort of) is long since stretched out. She's also an example that there aren't any guarantees if you don't change your behavior. After surgery she went from 250 to 119, which is waaayyy too low for her (she should be in 150 range). Then since she was in bad marriage she figured out how to " eat around the surgery " by drinking. A fifth a day every day. She got up to 335. When we met in AA in 90 she was back around 250 or so, which is where she is now. I go to weight watchers with her for support for her (and also for me) and she's down from where she was (about 290) last year. Like all of us, she knows WHAT to do, just needs to do it. We have our little helper, of course. And no, she doesn't want a band, as she knows that if she wanted to she could " eat around it " , and knows she just has to do what she has to do. So I'm glad he's with you in this. All too many spouses of both genders really sabotage the one with the band for various reasons. dan -- " It's OK to be a little broken, everybody's broken in this life " Jon Bon Jovi Dan Lester, Boise, Idaho, USA www.mylapband.tk Banded 4/27/03, Dr. Ortiz, Tijuana Started at 355, at goal in the 210-220 range for almost 4 years Ultimate goal of 195 Tummytuck in Boise and SmartLipo in Tijuana
