Here is an extremely useful resource, for those looking for the top thyroid docs in the US. These are recommendations from patients, so this may not be absolute. But it sure is a start.

Patty, that is a great site. I used it about 4 months ago to find a thyroid specialist. Although I love Dr Mercola and his diet, and recommendations and I will still be seeing him, I went for a second opinion. Someone with more time for me. I strongly felt my thyroid and slow metabolism needed to be treated more seriously, and aggressivly, so I went to a specialist found on this group. He's about an hour away in Indiana, but worth every minute of the drive. He told me after a thorough examination , of my pulse, heart rate, body temp, refelxes that I have severe thyroid resitance ( no wonder why I have been so intertestd in Dr Lowe- I almost went to him! No wonder why I gained weight on mercola's plan and exercising every frickin day ) and that he believes for my age, being so young to have resitance- that the implants may have caused my cells to be resistant, and not accepting of the homones due to toxins. He actually said that on his own, and asked me how I was with candida. Is this guy great or what!

I have been on Cytomel, and Levoxyl and feel better than ever (as he did not think the Armour was not working for me, but does presribe it to about 70% of his patients) He actually said to me, that blood tests for thyroid are only for direction, not to ever, ever go by. And that he will go by me, his patient not the blood work entirly. He also believes my throid resitance may be the reason I am so low on progesterone, and have adrenal problems on my saliva essays despite being on progesterone. As the other organs are trying to use those hormones to compensate.He thinks they should all fall into place once the thyroid, master gland is in shape. Makes sense to me, and in all I have read. He literally spoke all the words I have been reading outloud to my hubby for the last two years... Wish me luck ! I see him every 4 weeks for the first year....

Thanks for the testimony about the site . I am so glad you found this doctor. He sounds great. I think I will use one of the doctors recommended here in Vegas, since I am not so happy with the endo I am using now.

It sounds like you've made some major progess, and this guy is helping even more. That's the kind of medicine we all need!
