Hi all,

I've finally decided to go the whole hog (no pun intended) and have

placed an order for Armour. But I would appreciate some advice on how

to start taking it please.

I stopped taking levo (150mcg)on May 1st when I started boosting my

adrenals (NAE and DHEA). The improvement has been amazing. I still

have some symptoms (pains, dry skin and today I'm very tired) but

generally my energy levels are much better and my eyes aren't anything

like as puffy or dry as they were and I'm cheerful again!

I've read the files where it says to start on one quarter grain per

day, but then it says for those already on thyroxine two is okay. As I

will have been off my meds for 3-4 weeks, could I still start with the

twice daily dosage?

I know the levo has a long half-life, but I'm a little worried that my

thyroxine levels will start to drop to too low a level and then I'd

feel really grotty.

Thanks Penny x

HI Penny

Attached is the document "How to Use Armour Thyroid". Read this carefully. Consider yourself as a brand new user to thyroid medication, because unlike L-thyroxine (which contains the 'inactive' hormone T4) Armour contains ALL the thyroid hormones your body requires, and you should start to introduce these gently to make sure your body can cope with them. You should be fine as you appear to have done all the correct procedures to get you to where you are.

You should start on half a grain (30 mgs daily) for 7 days, and then add another half grain and stay on that for 3 to 4 weeks. Read on.............

Any questions, just shout.

Luv - Sheila

Hi Penny,

Thyroxine will be out of you body in about 25 days- so you are

pretty much there. Feeling more tired is to be expected, I'm not surprised

that other things are better- I'm sure some of my feeling rotten was

actually caused by the thyroxine. Best to start at the low level for a day

or two to be on the safe side in case you overact to the T3 content- though

as you have been boosting your adrenals this probably won't happen. I was

able to start with 1 grain per day, but I did have the stronger support of

prednisone for my adrenals. Don't worry- I'm sure it will go smoothly!
