I think it is just for T3(cytomel) and Armour.

If, as I am, you are on Levothyroxine/Synthroid (T4) only which

lingers longer in the blood, having a day off it would hardly make any

difference, so I wouldn't bother, in fact I never do :)

Although one of the more experienced of the forum who know about T3

will be along soon I am sure :)

God bless

Dawn

Hi sarah,

No thyroid meds for 24 hours before test.

Hi guys,

I'm a bit confused about the not taking meds before a blood test? Is

this just for Armour? I am on T4 and have got to go and have my first

blood test soon.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi , It's OK to take those supplements. I'd not take T4 for at least 24hours before test- so that would mean in your case not taking the night before's dose -you shouldn't miss one dose too badly-especially as it isn't doing much good. > thyroid treatment > From: yvonnefinancial@...> Date: Fri, 10 Sep 2010 22:50:23 +0000> Subject: Blood test advice please> > Hi, I'm after some advice please on how to prepare for a blood test. My Dr wants me to have a routine test to check my thyroid function (he's ticked the "TFT2- On thyroxine" box, cholesterol, calcium, liver function, electrolytes and a Full Blood Count. My question is how should I prepare for the test?> > I have seen somewhere that you shouldn't take your thyroxine until after the test, however I take mine just before bed. Should I still take it the night before or still wait until after my test?> > Also I take various supplements - Vitamin C, Selenium, calcium with zinc and magnesium, omega 3 oil and a slow release complete B vitamins. Should I also stop taking these before my test and if so how long before my blood test should I stop taking them?> > Sorry for the long message - I'm just petrified that I'll do something that will mess up the results and end up with my Dr reducing my dosages when I still don't feel right.> Many thanks. x x > > > > ------------------------------------> > TPA is not medically qualified. Thank you Shiela for such a quick and helpful response. I did send an email to

my surgery asking for all of the blood tests you mentioned but didn't hear back

and then " lost my bottle " ! and didn't chase them up. I'll get a boot up my

backside and ask for the tests again. This time I'll put it in writing and then

follow up with a visit and try and get myself better!! Thank you again.
